Job Description/Specification:


The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating the movement of vehicles, drivers, and goods to ensure efficient and timely transportation operations. The role involves monitoring daily transportation activities, optimizing routes, maintaining compliance with company policies, and ensuring high levels of customer service and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily transportation schedules, vehicle assignments, and driver dispatching.
  • Monitor vehicle movements and ensure timely pickups and deliveries.
  • Communicate with drivers, customers, and internal departments regarding transportation schedules and requirements.
  • Plan and optimize routes to maximize efficiency and reduce transportation costs.
  • Track vehicle utilization, fuel consumption, and operational performance.
  • Maintain accurate transportation records, reports, and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Coordinate vehicle maintenance schedules and liaise with the workshop to minimize downtime.
  • Investigate and resolve transportation issues, delays, accidents, or customer complaints.
  • Monitor driver attendance, trip sheets, timesheets, and daily activity reports.
  • Prepare periodic operational reports and performance metrics for management.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance transportation efficiency and service quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience in transportation, logistics, fleet coordination, or dispatch operations.
  • Strong knowledge of transportation and fleet management practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and transportation management systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and coordination abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in fleet operations, staff transportation, or logistics services.
  • Knowledge of local transportation regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Experience using GPS tracking and fleet management software.
