BQ Solutions, in conjunction with Barzan Holdings, is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Business Development Manager to help shape and secure strategic opportunities across the defence, security, and government sectors. This is an opportunity to play a key role in a fast-growing organisation operating at the intersection of capability development, operational support, and strategic advisory services.

 

We are looking for someone who combines strong business development instincts with structured bid leadership, commercial awareness, and the ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders. The successful candidate will help drive opportunity capture from early market engagement through to contract award, ensuring that pursuits are strategically aligned, commercially robust, and operationally deliverable.

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Developing and implementing targeted business development strategies across priority sectors and clients
  • Managing a structured pipeline of opportunities from identification through to award
  • Leading capture planning activities, win strategies, and opportunity shaping
  • Coordinating and leading high-quality bids and proposals across multidisciplinary teams
  • Supporting pricing, commercial evaluations, and financial viability assessments
  • Building and maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships
  • Conducting market intelligence and competitor analysis to support strategic positionin
  • Producing pipeline reports, bid tracking, and performance insights for leadership review
  • Ensuring alignment between business development activity and delivery capability

 

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commercial Management, or a related discipline
  • 5–10 years’ experience in business development, bids, capture, or commercial roles
  • Strong understanding of structured procurement and tender environments
  • Proven experience contributing to successful bids and opportunity conversion
  • Commercial and financial awareness, including pricing, margin, and risk considerations
  • Experience working across multi-disciplinary teams in complex environments
  • APMP, CIPS, or related professional qualifications are desirable
