Job Description/Specification:
An opportunity is available for an experienced Data Analyst to support well integrity operations across onshore and offshore oil and gas fields. The position focuses on analysing well integrity-related data and supporting the implementation and ongoing maintenance of a Well Integrity Management System (WIMS).
The successful candidate will act as the end-user focal point for WIMS, helping ensure that the system remains effective, reliable, and aligned with operational data requirements. The role combines database design, data analysis, and coordination with engineering teams to support well integrity monitoring and investigation activities.
This position is suited to professionals with at least seven years of data analyst experience, practical knowledge of relational databases, and an educational background in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related discipline.
Key Responsibilities
Well Integrity Data Analysis
The Data Analyst will analyse well integrity information from onshore and offshore operations. This involves working with data from different fields and supporting the organisation's efforts to maintain accurate, accessible, and useful well integrity records.
The analysis will help relevant teams review well-related information and support investigations or operational decisions concerning well integrity.
Well Integrity Management System (WIMS)
A central responsibility is serving as the end-user focal point for the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the Well Integrity Management System.
The role requires supporting the system's use and maintenance, helping ensure that it meets operational requirements and provides an effective platform for managing well integrity information.
Relational Database Design and Management
The position requires experience designing and creating relational databases. Candidates should be familiar with database platforms such as:
The ability to structure, organise, and manage data is important for supporting well integrity analysis and maintaining reliable information systems.
Coordination with Engineering Teams
The role may involve working with Petroleum Engineers, Reservoir Engineers, and other technical professionals. Exposure to petroleum or reservoir engineering activities, as well as well integrity investigations, is considered an advantage.
An understanding of engineering and geoscience data management can help the analyst interpret operational information and support the technical requirements of the WIMS platform.
Required Experience and Skills
Candidates should meet the following requirements:
-
At least seven years of professional experience in data analyst activities.
-
Practical experience designing and creating relational databases.
-
Knowledge of database platforms such as SQL Server or Microsoft Access.
-
Ability to analyse and manage technical or operational datasets.
-
Understanding of data management principles and database structures.
Exposure to Petroleum Engineering, Reservoir Engineering, or well integrity investigations is an added advantage.
Educational Qualifications
Applicants should hold a bachelor's degree in one of the following disciplines or a related field:
-
Computer Science
-
Information Technology
-
Software Engineering
-
Information Systems
-
Petroleum Engineering
-
Mechanical Engineering
The qualification should be supplemented by relevant industry-recognised courses in engineering and geoscience data management.
Candidates with engineering or computing degrees should also have relevant industry training in computer applications to support the technical requirements of the position.
Who Should Apply?
This opportunity may suit experienced data analysts who have worked with relational databases and are interested in applying their technical skills within the oil and gas sector.
Professionals with experience supporting engineering information systems, managing complex operational datasets, or working alongside well integrity teams may have a relevant background for the position.
The combination of data analysis, database development, and WIMS support makes this role particularly relevant to candidates who can connect information technology skills with the needs of petroleum and engineering operations.
