Job Description/Specification:
Autograph Collection, part of Marriott International, offers an opportunity for a Maintenance Technician to support hotel operations by maintaining guest rooms, public areas, equipment, and building systems. This role is suited to candidates with practical maintenance skills, a service-oriented attitude, and an interest in working in a hotel engineering environment.
The Maintenance Technician responds to guest repair requests, performs preventive maintenance, troubleshoots equipment, and helps ensure the property remains safe, functional, and welcoming. The position combines hands-on technical work with guest communication, teamwork, and adherence to safety procedures.
Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and some experience in general maintenance or surface preparation and painting. Previous hotel engineering or maintenance experience is an advantage.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Requests and Maintenance Support
The technician responds to guest repair requests and communicates professionally with guests to resolve maintenance concerns. Responsibilities include acknowledging guests according to hotel standards, anticipating service needs, and addressing issues with courtesy and genuine appreciation.
Daily activities and outstanding problems must be communicated to other shifts through approved systems and procedures to support continuity of service.
Preventive Maintenance and Equipment Repair
The role involves inspecting, cleaning, and lubricating tools, kitchen equipment, and mechanical room equipment. The technician performs basic troubleshooting and repairs across a range of systems, including:

Air conditioning and refrigeration

Electrical components, lamps, switches, and outlets

Plumbing, toilets, and drains

Mechanical, pneumatic, and electronic systems

Kitchen equipment and general building systems

Guestroom items, vacuum cleaners, extension cords, and internet devices
Additional duties include replacing light bulbs and air conditioning filters, programming televisions, and making temperature or air-handler schedule adjustments using basic computer systems.
Building Upkeep and Repair Work
The technician performs surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood trim repairs, and interior and exterior maintenance. Duties may also include maintaining landscaping features and external sprinkler systems.
After completing repairs or painting, the technician must thoroughly clean the work area and return tools and equipment to their proper storage locations.
Inventory and Safety
The position requires maintaining maintenance inventory and requesting parts and supplies when needed. Technicians must know how to locate and operate equipment shut-off valves and building utility shut-offs.
All work must follow company safety and security policies, including using the Lockout/Tagout system before maintenance activities. Employees must report hazards, accidents, injuries, and equipment problems, complete required safety training, and store flammable materials correctly.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should meet the following requirements:

Some experience in general maintenance and interior or exterior surface preparation and painting.

Basic knowledge or the ability to learn multiple building maintenance disciplines.

Basic computer skills for entering information and adjusting equipment schedules.

Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain professional standards.
Hotel engineering or maintenance experience is preferred but not mandatory. The role does not require supervisory experience.
Physical Requirements
The position involves active, hands-on work. Candidates should be able to lift, carry, push, pull, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds independently, with assistance for heavier items.
The work may require climbing stairs, service ramps, and ladders; reaching overhead or below the knees; and bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
