Job Description/Specification:
Qatar Duty Free is seeking an experienced Shop Supervisor to support daily retail operations at Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar. This role is ideal for retail professionals with hands-on experience in sales, inventory management, team supervision, and customer service.
The Shop Supervisor works closely with the Duty Manager to coordinate shop floor activities, guide sales staff, monitor stock levels, and ensure company policies and procedures are followed. The position also plays an important role in achieving daily sales targets through effective merchandising, staff motivation, and excellent customer service.
With more than 90 boutiques and retail stores across over 40,000 square meters at Hamad International Airport, Qatar Duty Free offers a dynamic travel retail environment for professionals looking to develop their retail management experience.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Shop Operations and Sales
The Shop Supervisor assists the Duty Manager in organising daily shop requirements, including staff allocation, cash handling, and stock availability. The supervisor helps implement shift priorities and ensures tasks are completed within the required timelines.
Responsibilities include supporting sales performance, guiding employees toward daily targets, and ensuring operational procedures are consistently followed.
Inventory and Stock Management
Maintaining appropriate stock levels is essential to maximise sales opportunities and prevent losses. The Shop Supervisor monitors stock availability, verifies inventory, and coordinates with relevant teams to address stock-related issues.
The role also involves monitoring stock shrinkage and ensuring it remains within budget. Direct experience in retail inventory management is important for maintaining accurate stock records and supporting efficient shop operations.
Staff Supervision and Training
The supervisor guides and motivates the assigned sales team, helping employees deliver effective customer service and develop product knowledge.
Key duties include:

Conducting on-the-job training for new sales employees.

Providing pre-shift briefings on daily priorities, promotions, and product launches.

Coordinating shift handovers with the Duty Manager.

Communicating store conditions, sales updates, and staffing requirements.

Supporting consistent team performance and service standards.
Cash Handling and Store Closing
The Shop Supervisor helps maintain cash-handling standards by monitoring sales discrepancies and facilitating daily random till spot checks.
The role also includes handling sales returns and void slips according to standard operating procedures, authorising staff discounts when required, and checking that employee purchase limits are respected.
At the end of each shift, the supervisor ensures that tills, stock conditions, merchandising, and visual standards meet company requirements before completing the store closing procedures.
Customer Service and Complaint Resolution
Delivering a positive customer experience is a key part of the role. The supervisor responds professionally to customer feedback and complaints, identifies customer expectations, and escalates concerns to the Duty Manager or Retail Manager for appropriate follow-up.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should meet the following requirements:

High school qualification or equivalent.

At least 3 years of relevant job experience.

Proven ability to manage stock on a day-to-day basis.

Hands-on experience in retail inventory management.

Experience handling complex issues and negotiation.

Travel retail experience is preferred.
Strong communication, organisation, leadership, and customer service skills are valuable for success in this position.
