The role focuses on health, safety, environmental and quality (SEQ) compliance, workplace inspections, incident management, safety training, and the effective implementation of safety procedures.

This opportunity is suited to HSE professionals with experience in industrial environments who can support maintenance and construction activities while ensuring that company employees and contractor personnel follow established safety requirements.

The Safety Officer will work closely with site teams, technicians and other relevant personnel to identify potential hazards, monitor work activities and maintain the availability of essential safety equipment and documentation.

About SPIE Global Services Energy

The company serves customers in Europe, Africa, Asia Pacific, the Middle East and the Americas, with a presence in approximately 30 countries.

Its activities support the oil, gas and renewable energy industries by helping improve infrastructure performance, increase energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. SPIE Global Services Energy draws on the expertise of approximately 5,000 employees, supported by the wider SPIE Group, which reported consolidated revenue of €10.4 billion in 2025.

Key Responsibilities of the Safety Officer

The successful candidate will help implement safety procedures and maintain compliance across assigned work areas. Main responsibilities include:

  • Safety equipment maintenance: Develop and implement preventive maintenance programmes and procedures to keep safety equipment and facilities in proper working condition.

  • Inspection and testing: Ensure regular inspection, testing and maintenance of fixed and portable equipment within the assigned area.

  • Safety training: Assist in developing and delivering training programmes covering safety, environmental and quality principles and practices.

  • Permit-to-work monitoring: Monitor maintenance and construction crews performing activities under the permit-to-work system to ensure compliance with SEQ requirements.

  • Incident management: Assist with incident control during major accidents or emergencies, investigate incidents, and prepare assessments and reports.

  • Team coordination: Provide work direction to safety, environmental and quality technicians to ensure tasks meet the required standards.

  • Safety supplies: Coordinate the availability of safety and emergency equipment, protective clothing and other essential supplies.

  • Safety programme implementation: Support the development and implementation of safety programmes, recommend improvements and ensure relevant safety documentation remains available.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Well-developed analytical, planning and organisational abilities.

  • Good computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Candidates with relevant industrial HSE experience and the ability to monitor site activities, coordinate safety requirements and prepare incident reports will be well suited to the responsibilities of this position.

Important Skills for This Role

A Safety Officer working on energy infrastructure facilities needs to combine practical site awareness with effective communication and documentation skills. Understanding permit-to-work activities, equipment inspections, emergency preparedness and incident investigation is particularly relevant to the duties described for this vacancy.

The role also requires coordination with maintenance and construction teams, making the ability to communicate safety expectations clearly and identify areas for improvement important to day-to-day performance.
