This opportunity is designed for engineering professionals with practical field maintenance experience and a strong understanding of maintenance strategy development, equipment reliability, and asset handover requirements.

The successful candidate will help ensure that assets are delivered with complete, technically sound, and executable maintenance systems before operational handover. The role involves working closely with engineering, operations, reliability, and inspection teams to develop maintenance programs, prepare work instructions, assess equipment criticality, and optimize maintenance resources.

Candidates with experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical, or similar process industries may be well suited to this position. The assignment follows an 11-month-on and one-month-off rotation, with an immediate start indicated in the supplied job description.

Key Responsibilities

The Maintenance Engineer will develop, review, and validate maintenance documentation and strategies to support operational readiness and long-term equipment reliability.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Develop and review Equipment Criticality Assessments based on operational risks and potential business impacts.

  • Build and optimize maintenance programs using original equipment manufacturer (OEM) recommendations, existing work instructions, reliability studies, and practical field experience.

  • Develop On-Condition Monitoring plans by defining suitable monitoring techniques, parameters, and inspection frequencies.

  • Prepare maintenance plans covering task lists, maintenance frequencies, manpower requirements, and estimated task durations.

  • Conduct lubrication studies and develop lubrication plans covering lubrication points, lubricant types, methods, and intervals.

  • Develop and review spading books and equipment isolation requirements in coordination with operations and maintenance teams.

  • Prepare and review Maintenance Work Instructions to ensure maintenance activities are clear, practical, and executable in the field.

  • Identify and validate critical spare parts, consumables, tools, and special maintenance requirements.

  • Review P&IDs, equipment datasheets, general arrangement drawings, vendor documentation, and maintenance manuals to establish maintenance requirements.

  • Analyze historical SAP work-order data to improve task durations, maintenance campaigns, and resource planning.

  • Support base operations and campaign maintenance planning, including task optimization.

  • Validate maintenance strategies against actual field conditions before asset handover.

  • Ensure maintenance deliverables are technically accurate, traceable, and aligned with client requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should meet the following requirements:

  • Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Experience: Five to ten years of maintenance engineering experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical, or similar process industries.

  • Field experience: Practical maintenance experience with rotating, static, and/or mechanical equipment.

  • Maintenance readiness: Experience in Maintenance Build, Maintenance Readiness, or Operational Readiness activities.

  • Maintenance strategy: Knowledge of equipment criticality assessment, maintenance program development, condition monitoring, lubrication planning, isolation requirements, and spare parts optimization.

  • Technical documentation: Ability to interpret P&IDs, equipment datasheets, vendor manuals, and general arrangement drawings.

  • Software skills: Good command of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Language: Fluent English.

Experience with SAP Plant Maintenance (SAP PM) or other computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is an advantage. Familiarity with greenfield or brownfield projects and methodologies such as Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA/FMECA), or Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) is also beneficial.
