The role focuses on ensuring that refueling equipment remains serviceable, safe, and compliant with applicable military requirements and maintenance standards.

This position is suited to experienced fuels technicians with a strong background in equipment maintenance, electrical troubleshooting, vehicle repairs, and technical inspections. The successful candidate will help coordinate maintenance activities, inspect completed repairs, manage repair parts, and ensure work is completed according to established schedules and quality requirements.

The mechanic will also support compliance with the Performance Work Statement (PWS), USAF mandatory requirements, and Amentum’s ISO 9001 Quality Management System. The role requires technical knowledge, attention to detail, safe working practices, and the ability to collaborate with a diverse international workforce.

Key Responsibilities

Fuels Equipment Maintenance and Inspections

The FHE Refueler Mechanic supervises and performs activities related to the reconstitution, preservation, inspection, and maintenance of USAF fuels equipment and vehicle assets.

Key duties include:

  • Meeting monthly maintenance, inspection, and preservation targets.

  • Conducting Limited Technical Inspections (LTI) when equipment is received.

  • Determining economical repair options while maintaining required quality and safety standards.

  • Prioritising maintenance tasks according to operational requirements and work schedules.

  • Inspecting and preparing fuels equipment for transportation by air, land, or sea.

  • Operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting fuels support equipment.

  • Inspecting completed vehicle repairs to verify that quality standards have been met.

Electrical Systems and Technical Repairs

The role includes maintaining and repairing electrical systems on fuels equipment. Candidates must be comfortable using technical publications, wiring diagrams, specialised tools, and testing equipment to diagnose faults and complete repairs.

Responsibilities also include charging and repairing air-conditioning systems and maintaining batteries and associated equipment. The mechanic must ensure that charged batteries, electrolyte, battery clamps, and other required items are stored and maintained according to operational requirements.

Work Orders, Tools and Spare Parts

Accurate maintenance documentation and effective parts management are essential to this position.

The successful candidate will ensure work orders are completed correctly and promptly, research repair parts requirements, and check whether necessary components are locally available. Unused serviceable parts and unserviceable parts must be returned to the appropriate supply facility in accordance with established procedures.

Tools and equipment must remain serviceable, properly accounted for, and securely stored. The mechanic will also support safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials in line with Amentum procedures.

The role may involve working in a maintenance workshop or warehouse, spending extended periods outdoors, and handling heavy equipment. Temporary duty travel within the assigned area of responsibility may be required, along with domestic or international travel depending on operational needs.

Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • At least five years of experience as a fuels technician.

  • Intermediate English proficiency, including speaking, reading, writing, and understanding technical publications.

  • A valid home-country driving licence and the ability to obtain a host-nation driving licence.

  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues from different cultural backgrounds.

  • Physical capability to perform the required duties, including lifting, pushing, and pulling loads of at least 50 pounds.

  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.

Candidates may also need to operate material-handling equipment and light to heavy military vehicles. The working environment may involve high noise levels and other conditions requiring appropriate protective equipment.
