Key Responsibilities
General Maintenance and Repairs
The Engineering Technician will perform maintenance and repair work across various hotel systems, including electrical installations, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, fire and safety equipment, and interior finishes, according to assigned duties and technical competencies.
Responsibilities include lubricating machinery, inspecting equipment, and repairing or replacing components such as bearings, gears, belts, shafts, and control mechanisms. The technician will also assist with restoring items brought to the engineering workshop by other hotel departments.
Electrical Maintenance
The position involves maintaining electrical equipment and lighting systems throughout the property. Duties include replacing lamps, repairing sockets, installing wiring for renovations and additional outlets, and supporting the installation of motors and associated equipment.
The technician will also carry out preventive maintenance on electrical systems and maintain accurate records and maintenance logs to support equipment reliability and operational safety.
Guest Room and Public Area Maintenance
Maintaining the condition of guest rooms and public areas is an important part of the role. The technician will perform scheduled preventive maintenance, troubleshoot equipment issues, and respond professionally to guest complaints relating to room facilities and building maintenance.
Additional duties may include adjusting and cleaning televisions, resolving plumbing blockages, and completing repairs required to maintain the hotel's facilities in good working condition.
Safety and Teamwork
The successful candidate must follow workplace safety procedures, keep engineering work areas clean and organized, and report accidents or incidents promptly.
The role also requires an appropriate response to hotel emergencies and safety situations. Maintaining positive working relationships with colleagues across departments and completing additional assignments from engineering leadership are essential to effective hotel operations.
