Known for executing complex, high-standard commercial and industrial developments, HATCO combines technical precision with robust project management capabilities. We are committed to delivering mission-critical infrastructure that supports Qatar's rapid technological and economic transformation.
Role Overview
HATCO is seeking a highly driven and technically astute Construction Manager with a solid foundation in either Civil or MEP engineering to lead the on-site execution of our flagship Data Center construction project in Doha, Qatar. In this critical leadership role, you will take full ownership of on-site operations, driving daily construction progress, managing specialized subcontractors, ensuring rigorous quality compliance, and synchronizing civil handovers with complex MEP fit-outs.
The ideal candidate brings specialized experience in mission-critical environments (such as data centers, server rooms, or high-tech industrial plants) and possesses the coordination skills required to deliver a resilient facility on schedule and within budget.
Key Responsibilities & Core Duties
1. Construction Execution & Site Management
-
On-Site Leadership: Lead, direct, and monitor all daily on-site construction activities, ensuring work progresses safely in strict accordance with approved drawings, method statements, and project specifications.
-
Structural & MEP Oversight: Manage structural civil works (including heavy foundations, reinforced concrete structures, and structural steel) OR oversee complex MEP system installations (such as MV/LV power systems, redundant cooling setups, generator rooms, fire suppression, and Building Management Systems [BMS]).
-
Interface Management: Enforce smooth transitions and tight interface coordination between structural civil handovers and the commencement of MEP first- and second-fix works.
2. Progress Tracking & Schedule Control
-
Baseline Alignment: Collaborate closely with the Project Control team to maintain, track, and optimize the master construction program (Baseline Schedule).
-
Milestone Management: Identify potential field delays or architectural/engineering bottlenecks early, proactively implementing recovery plans to hit critical data center milestones (e.g., building envelope closure, power-on, and room readiness).
-
Progress Meetings: Conduct daily and weekly progress review meetings with site engineers, foremen, and subcontractors to resolve site conflicts and align daily targets.
3. Subcontractor & Logistics Coordination
-
Primary Point of Contact: Act as the primary site point of contact for civil, structural, architectural, and MEP subcontractors, evaluating their performance, manpower allocation, and material availability.
-
Supply Chain Synchronization: Work hand-in-hand with the Site Logistics Team to ensure critical equipment, bulk materials, and specialized tools are delivered to exact work faces precisely when needed to eliminate downtime.
4. Quality Assurance & Mission-Critical Compliance
-
Clean-Room Standards: Ensure all works adhere to the ultra-strict quality standards, clean-room requirements, and tight tolerances mandatory for mission-critical Data Center infrastructures.
-
Inspections & Commissioning: Oversee the inspection process (IRs/WIRs) with the QA/QC team and Client Consultants, ensuring swift resolution of punch-list items and assisting testing and commissioning teams during pre-commissioning phases.
5. HSE Leadership
Requirements & Candidate Qualifications
-
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Construction Management.
-
Experience: Minimum of 10 to 15 years of total professional construction experience, with a proven track record managing major commercial, industrial, or mission-critical projects (direct Data Center construction experience is heavily preferred).
-
Discipline Background: Strong technical grounding in either Civil or MEP engineering, with deep familiarity of the interface between structural handovers and complex electro-mechanical fit-outs.
-
Regional Exposure: Previous working experience in Qatar or the broader GCC region; familiarity with local authority regulations and QCS is an advantage.
-
Soft Skills: Exceptional leadership abilities, high stress-tolerance, excellent cross-functional communication skills, and a structured approach to problem-solving.
