This position is suitable for a civil engineering professional with strong analytical skills, knowledge of construction documentation and experience preparing accurate technical and commercial submissions.

The successful candidate will help evaluate tender requirements, estimate project costs, coordinate supplier and subcontractor quotations, and ensure bids are submitted accurately within deadlines.

About the Role

The role involves assessing construction opportunities from the initial tender invitation through bid submission and, where a project is awarded, supporting the handover to the execution team. Strong attention to detail is essential because estimates, quantities, unit rates and commercial assumptions can directly affect the competitiveness and accuracy of a bid.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review tender invitations, engineering drawings, technical specifications, Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and contract documents.
  • Analyze tender requirements to identify project scope, risks and potential opportunities.
  • Prepare technical and commercial bids in line with client requirements and submission deadlines.
  • Conduct quantity take-offs and estimate costs for construction activities.
  • Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Prepare cost comparisons, bid summaries and tender analysis reports.
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, planning and project teams throughout the tendering process.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits and tender clarification meetings when required.
  • Prepare tender queries and respond to client clarification requests.
  • Verify that tender submissions comply with client specifications and company standards.
  • Support the handover of awarded projects to project execution teams.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5–10 years of experience in tendering, estimation or quantity surveying within the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, BOQs, technical specifications and contract documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Ability to prepare Unit Rate Analysis (URA) or Unit Price Analysis (UPA).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and estimation software is an advantage.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tenders and work under tight deadlines.

Work arrangement: In person.

Who Should Apply?

This opportunity is well suited to civil engineers, estimation engineers, tendering professionals and quantity surveyors with practical construction-sector experience.

Candidates should be comfortable reviewing drawings, calculating quantities, analyzing costs and coordinating commercial information from multiple sources. Professionals who can balance technical accuracy with commercial awareness may be particularly competitive.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

Tendering and estimation professionals play an important role in construction business development. Their work helps companies evaluate project opportunities, develop competitive bids and understand the financial requirements of proposed construction works.

This position offers an opportunity to apply engineering knowledge, cost analysis and coordination skills while contributing to the early stages of project delivery.

  • Excel proficiency: Organizing calculations, cost comparisons and bid summaries.
  • Time management: Coordinating multiple tender deadlines without compromising accuracy.
  • Communication: Clarifying requirements with internal teams, suppliers and clients.

How to Prepare for the Interview

Prepare practical examples demonstrating how you have:

  1. Prepared a construction estimate from drawings and a BOQ.
  2. Developed a Unit Rate Analysis or Unit Price Analysis.
