Vistas Global is seeking an experienced Projects Controls Engineer for a full-time position in Doha, Qatar. Reference: RRF-VG-BST-2026-101083.
The role focuses on project planning, scheduling, cost control, budgeting, forecasting, risk management and performance reporting, particularly for brownfield construction projects in the oil and gas sector. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, engineers, planning teams, estimators, contractors and other stakeholders to maintain effective control over project scope, schedule and expenditure.
About the Role
The Projects Controls Engineer helps project teams understand whether work is progressing according to plan, whether costs remain within budget and whether risks or delays require corrective action. This requires strong analytical skills, practical project controls experience and the ability to translate project information into clear reports for management.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, milestones and activity sequences.
- Monitor critical-path activities, identify potential delays and recommend recovery actions.
- Review contractor schedules and work packages to assess planning quality and progress.
- Verify project progress through schedule reviews, site monitoring and performance measurement.
- Prepare budgets, cost sheets, forecasts and expenditure-tracking reports.
- Conduct cost and schedule variance analysis to identify deviations from approved plans.
- Analyze invoices, extension-of-time (EOT) claims and change orders to assess their project impacts.
- Identify project risks, evaluate their potential effects and support mitigation and contingency planning.
- Monitor scope, schedule and budget changes to maintain effective change control.
- Prepare project status reports, dashboards and management presentations.
- Maintain audit documentation and supporting evidence for project reviews.
- Use project monitoring systems and relevant software to support reporting and control activities.
Requirements and Qualifications
Candidates should meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Mechanical, Chemical or Civil Engineering is preferred.
- 5–7 years of experience as a Projects Controls Engineer, including brownfield construction experience in oil and gas.
- Petrochemicals experience is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with costing tools or software.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in other Microsoft applications.
- Practical experience in project scheduling, critical-path analysis, resource planning and progress measurement.
- Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, cost sheets and expenditure tracking.
- Experience assessing EOT claims and change-order impacts.
- Understanding of risk assessment, contingency planning and corrective actions.
- Experience preparing dashboards, project reports and management presentations.
- Familiarity with audit documentation and supporting evidence.
PMP, PMI or APM-related certification is preferred. Certified Cost Professional (CCP) and Planning and Scheduling Professional (PSP) certifications are also listed as preferred.
