KEO is seeking an experienced Contract Engineer to join its team in Doha, Qatar, on secondment to a government-sector client. This position focuses on managing contractual and technical requirements across engineering and construction projects, ensuring that project activities, documentation, variations and deliverables comply with agreed contract terms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review engineering specifications, contract clauses and technical documentation to verify compliance with project requirements.
  • Monitor contractual obligations relating to construction activities, technical standards, specifications and applicable regulations.
  • Track project milestones, deliverables, programme performance and budget-related contractual requirements.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, construction teams and design professionals to ensure contract requirements are implemented correctly.
  • Manage variations, scope changes and contract amendments, including documentation, communication and implementation.
  • Prepare and maintain tender bulletins, negotiation records, clarifications and approved qualifications.
  • Review scopes of work and services for tenders and change requests alongside relevant technical teams.
  • Prepare contract status updates, performance reports and compliance reports for senior management.
  • Monitor contractual issues and non-conformities and support their resolution.
  • Supervise and monitor construction activities to ensure alignment with contractual requirements.
  • Monitor requests for information (RFIs), ensuring site teams raise them when needed and coordinating with the Design Manager on contractor design elements.
  • Support reviews of contractor submissions, technical documents and other contractual deliverables.

Requirements and Qualifications

Candidates should meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in contract management or contract engineering, preferably in construction or engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Contract Engineer or in an equivalent role.
  • Strong understanding of engineering and construction practices.
  • Knowledge of contract administration, contract law and project management principles.
  • Demonstrated experience managing variations, scope changes, technical queries and contractual issues.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

A professional contract management certification, such as CPCM or an equivalent qualification, is advantageous. Experience with contract management software and tools is also beneficial.
