Job Description/Specification:
Snoonu is hiring a Senior Product Manager – Search to own the search experience across its super app. The role is responsible for the shared search service supporting food, groceries, retail, and other categories, combining product strategy, relevance engineering, user experience, and commercial performance.
This is a senior product opportunity for someone who understands search and discovery systems and can translate complex relevance challenges into measurable improvements in customer findability and conversion.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end vision, strategy, and roadmap for Snoonu’s shared Search product.
- Improve search relevance through ranking logic, query understanding, and search pipeline optimization.
- Work across food, grocery, retail, and other verticals to create a consistent search experience.
- Lead collaboration between Product, Engineering, Data, Design, Commercial, and Operations teams.
- Design and run A/B tests covering ranking strategies, search interfaces, and query understanding.
- Define and monitor search KPIs including zero-result rate, click-through rate, search-to-order conversion, and query abandonment.
- Oversee search platform capabilities including indexing, faceting, personalization, and API integrations.
- Coordinate with Engineering on ingestion pipelines and real-time catalog synchronization.
- Translate commercial and operational requirements into search logic supporting merchandising, promotions, and vendor-boosting use cases.
- Present search performance, product strategy, and recommendations to senior leadership and business teams.
- Share search product expertise with other Product Managers and help establish best practices for experimentation and data-driven product development.
Requirements
- 5+ years of product management experience.
- Meaningful experience owning a search, discovery, or catalog product.
- Hands-on experience configuring and managing an enterprise search platform.
- Strong understanding of relevance tuning, indexing strategies, and personalization.
- Knowledge of information retrieval concepts such as ranking, NLP, tokenization, synonyms, faceted search, and merchandising rules.
- Strong analytical skills and experience using search analytics and funnel metrics for product decisions.
- Experience designing and evaluating A/B tests.
- Strong stakeholder management and prioritization skills across multiple teams.
- Solid understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies.
- Ability to explain complex technical and relevance concepts to both engineers and business stakeholders.
- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Management, or a related field.
- Fluency in English is essential; Arabic is an advantage.
Who Should Apply?
This position is designed for an experienced Product Manager who has genuinely owned search, discovery, or catalog experiences, rather than someone whose background is limited to general product management.
The strongest candidates will understand how users search for products, how search engines interpret queries, and how ranking and merchandising decisions influence the customer journey. You should also be comfortable operating a shared platform where different business verticals have competing priorities.
Skills That Will Help You Succeed
The role requires a combination of product leadership, search technology knowledge, data analysis, and stakeholder management.
Understanding ranking, NLP, tokenization, synonyms, faceting, personalization, and merchandising rules will help you work effectively with engineering and data teams.
Commercial awareness is also important. Search is not simply a technical feature—it influences product discovery, conversion, promotions, vendor visibility, and ultimately business performance.
Strong experimentation skills will help you determine whether changes actually improve customer outcomes rather than relying on assumptions.
How to Stand Out
Your CV should clearly demonstrate ownership of a search, discovery, catalog, or comparable platform. Avoid describing your experience only in generic product-management terms.
Highlight measurable outcomes such as improvements in search-to-order conversion, click-through rate, zero-result rate, query abandonment, product discovery, or revenue contribution where available.
Also mention the search technologies or platforms you have worked with, your experience with relevance tuning and indexing, and examples of A/B testing or personalization initiatives.
Interview Preparation
Expect detailed questions about search quality and product strategy. You may be asked how you would investigate a high zero-result rate, declining search conversion, or poor relevance for particular queries.
Prepare to explain how you would balance relevance with commercial requirements such as sponsored products, promotions, merchandising, and vendor boosting.
You should also be ready to discuss A/B testing, search KPIs, prioritization across multiple teams, and situations where technical constraints conflicted with business objectives.
A strong interview response should demonstrate that you can move from problem identification → data analysis → product hypothesis → experiment → measurement → iteration.
Career Growth
This role offers broad exposure to search technology, product strategy, experimentation, data analytics, e-commerce, merchandising, and multiple business verticals.
Experience owning a shared search platform can provide a strong foundation for progression into Group Product Management, Search & Discovery Leadership, Marketplace Product Leadership, or broader Product Director roles.
