Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the Qatar Airways Group Supplier Management strategy and approach.
  • Provide strategic analysis and identify alternative approaches for managing the third-party supplier base.
  • Build stakeholder buy-in for preferred supplier management approaches and support their implementation.
  • Develop a supplier segmentation methodology based on spend, criticality, and value contribution.
  • Establish a structured Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) approach for different supplier segments.
  • Develop consistent methodologies for managing relationships with strategic suppliers.
  • Establish and roll out a procurement framework that guides business areas in contracting and managing their supply base.
  • Address Internal Audit observations related to Third-Party Risk Management and support full coverage across the Qatar Airways Group.
  • Develop methodologies for managing Strategic Suppliers and coordinate ownership across relevant business areas.
  • Create internal and external data streams to support supplier relationship management, particularly for Strategic Suppliers.
  • Contribute to Project Wahed to ensure the SRM approach is aligned with and makes effective use of the Oracle platform.
  • Sponsor the GBS Procurement drive for supplier localization and strengthen engagement with Qatari suppliers.
  • Perform other duties related to the position as directed by the Head of Department.

Supplier Segmentation and SRM

A major focus of this role is creating a structured approach to understanding and managing suppliers. This includes categorizing suppliers according to factors such as spend, criticality, and value added, then developing appropriate relationship-management methodologies for each segment.

Strategic Suppliers will receive particular attention, requiring detailed management methodologies, defined ownership, supporting data, and coordinated action across the Qatar Airways Group.

Third-Party Risk and Procurement Governance

The position also contributes to strengthening the procurement framework used by business areas when contracting and managing suppliers. An important element is addressing Internal Audit observations associated with Third-Party Risk Management and ensuring the framework provides appropriate coverage across the Group.

The successful candidate will therefore need to combine supplier-management expertise with strong contractual, financial, and governance awareness.

Stakeholder Management

This is a highly collaborative position involving multiple stakeholders across a large organization. The role requires the ability to influence and gain support for preferred approaches while building effective relationships with different groups.

Strong communication and negotiation skills will be particularly important when implementing new supplier-management methodologies and procurement frameworks.

Requirements

Candidates should have:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent job-related experience.
  • A degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Business, or a relevant field.
  • Strong category-specific experience.
  • Excellent command of English.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment and under pressure.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong influencing, persuasion, and relationship-building skills.
  • A service-oriented mindset focused on stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Strong negotiation planning, management, and execution skills.
  • Good contractual and financial acumen.
  • Managerial and delegation skills.
  • Ability to set clear direction and manage workflows.
  • Strong mentoring and coaching capabilities.
  • Ability to train and develop team members.
  • Ability to encourage teamwork and collaboration.

Who Should Apply?

This opportunity is well suited to experienced supplier management, procurement, category management, supply chain, or commercial professionals who have worked with complex supplier ecosystems.

Candidates should be comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels, developing frameworks while also supporting implementation across multiple business areas.

Experience with strategic suppliers, supplier segmentation, SRM, procurement governance, or third-party risk management can be particularly relevant.

How to Stand Out

Your CV should demonstrate measurable experience in supplier relationship management, procurement transformation, supplier segmentation, category management, or third-party risk.

Highlight examples where you developed a supplier-management framework, improved supplier performance, managed strategic suppliers, addressed audit or compliance findings, or influenced multiple stakeholders to adopt a new procurement approach.

Experience with Oracle platforms or procurement technology should also be clearly identified if applicable, particularly where it supported supplier-management processes.

Interview Preparation

Prepare to explain how you would segment a large supplier base and determine which suppliers require strategic relationship management.

You may also be asked how you would establish an SRM framework, manage stakeholder resistance, address third-party risks, or respond to Internal Audit observations.

Be prepared with examples demonstrating your negotiation skills, contractual and financial understanding, stakeholder influence, leadership, and ability to implement procurement initiatives across multiple business areas.

Career Growth

Experience in strategic supplier management and third-party risk within a major aviation organization can provide a strong foundation for progression into senior procurement, category management, supplier governance, supply chain, commercial, and procurement transformation leadership roles.
