Job Description/Specification:

A construction company in Qatar is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to supervise project-site activities, coordinate construction teams, and ensure work is delivered according to approved drawings, specifications, quality requirements, and schedules. The position is particularly suited to senior civil engineering professionals with Grade A MMUP/UPDA classification and substantial site experience.

The advertised salary is QAR 7,000–16,000 per month, with the position based in person.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and monitor daily construction activities at project sites.
  • Ensure construction works follow approved drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
  • Coordinate contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and site teams.
  • Monitor progress and support timely completion of assigned works.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and maintain required quality standards.
  • Coordinate with consultants and project stakeholders regarding site requirements.
  • Review drawings, BOQs, specifications, and other technical documents.
  • Identify and resolve technical and construction-related site issues.
  • Prepare daily and weekly progress reports.
  • Maintain accurate project and site documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, project procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Monitor site requirements for materials, manpower, and equipment.
  • Support project planning, estimation, scheduling, and construction execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
  • Valid Grade A MMUP/UPDA classification – mandatory.
  • Minimum 10 years of civil engineering experience.
  • Strong experience in project planning and construction execution.
  • Proven site coordination and supervision experience.
  • Good knowledge of construction methods and materials.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and project specifications.
  • Experience reviewing BOQs and other project documentation.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Valid driving license.
  • Ability to work in an in-person construction environment.

Important: The job posting specifically states that only candidates holding a valid Grade A classification will be considered.

Who Should Apply?

This position is aimed at experienced Civil Engineers who have progressed beyond purely technical design responsibilities and have substantial responsibility for site execution, construction supervision, planning, coordination, and project progress.

Candidates with strong Qatar construction experience and current Grade A MMUP/UPDA classification should pay particular attention to this opportunity, as the classification is explicitly identified as a mandatory requirement.

Skills That Will Help You Succeed

A successful candidate will need strong site-management and construction knowledge combined with practical problem-solving ability.

Important strengths include construction planning, contractor coordination, drawing and specification review, progress monitoring, quality control, material coordination, manpower planning, and technical issue resolution.

The ability to communicate effectively with consultants, contractors, suppliers, and internal site teams is also essential for keeping construction activities aligned with project requirements.

How to Stand Out

Your CV should clearly display your Grade A MMUP/UPDA classification near the top rather than leaving it buried within your qualifications.

Also highlight your total years of experience, major construction projects, site responsibilities, project values or sizes where appropriate, and your involvement in planning, execution, coordination, and completion.

If you have experience resolving difficult site issues or recovering delayed activities, include specific examples and measurable outcomes.

Interview Preparation

Expect technical and scenario-based questions related to construction execution and site management.

You may be asked how you would handle work that does not comply with approved drawings, how you would coordinate a delayed subcontractor, or how you would respond to material or manpower shortages affecting the project schedule.

Prepare examples demonstrating your approach to quality inspections, contractor coordination, progress reporting, safety compliance, drawing review, and resolving technical site problems.

Career Growth

Senior Civil Engineers with strong construction execution and site-management experience can progress toward positions such as Senior Civil Engineer, Construction Manager, Project Manager, Resident Engineer, or broader project leadership roles.

Maintaining strong technical credentials and gaining experience across planning, commercial coordination, quality, safety, and project delivery can further strengthen progression into senior construction management.
