The Transport Team Leader role in Doha offers an opportunity to work within Qatar’s aviation and airport operations sector, supporting the safe and timely delivery of catering services to aircraft. The position combines transport coordination, flight dispatch, staff rostering, vehicle and equipment management, safety compliance, KPI reporting, and operational investigations.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the on-time dispatch of allocated flights according to airline specifications, food safety standards, and airport safety requirements.
- Conduct Voyage Report (VR) investigations for the Transport Department and ensure findings are properly reviewed and followed up.
- Prepare and maintain the overall Transport Department roster under the guidance of Duty Supervisors.
- Coordinate daily vacation and overtime requirements and support accurate rostering administration.
- Compile the monthly KPI reporting pack and review On Time Performance (OTP) data to identify operational trends.
- Manage the allocation and performance of Equipment Operators and other drivers within the Service Delivery function.
- Support the loading and offloading of different flight types, including complex operations, ultra-long-haul flights, VIP movements, charters, private flights, and ad hoc operations.
- Ensure compliance with ramp safety and aircraft marshalling requirements while working airside.
- Safeguard issued operational equipment, including tablets, radios, personal protective equipment, and probe guns.
- Maintain records relating to vehicle maintenance, fleet activities, and ramp safety training.
Requirements
Candidates should meet one of the following educational and experience combinations:
- High School Qualification with at least 2 years of job-related experience, or
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent with at least 1 year of job-related experience.
- Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
- A valid HGV driving license.
- Experience with different types of aircraft handover activities.
- Previous experience in rostering or roster administration.
- Knowledge of aircraft loading and catering vehicle loading procedures.
- Understanding of fleet management and transport operations.
- Ability to work flexible hours and remain effective under operational pressure.

Skills That Will Help You Succeed
This is a hands-on airport operations position where coordination and accuracy are important. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where flight schedules, staffing requirements, vehicles, equipment, and safety procedures must be managed together.
Useful skills include transport planning, manpower allocation, roster management, KPI reporting, operational investigation, aircraft servicing coordination, and fleet administration. Strong communication is also important because the role involves coordinating drivers, Equipment Operators, supervisors, and other operational stakeholders.
Who Should Apply?
This opportunity is particularly relevant to transport coordinators, airport operations professionals, aviation catering transport staff, fleet supervisors, and experienced drivers who have progressed into team-lead responsibilities.
Candidates with experience working airside or around aircraft operations can demonstrate a stronger understanding of the safety, timing, and coordination requirements involved in the position. Experience handling different aircraft types or supporting complex and long-haul operations can also be valuable.
How to Stand Out
A strong CV should clearly show your experience in transport operations, aircraft handover, rostering, fleet management, and staff allocation. If you have worked with KPI reports or On Time Performance data, mention this specifically rather than simply listing “reporting” as a skill.
Also highlight your HGV license, experience with catering vehicles, aircraft loading activities, ramp safety, and any responsibility for equipment or vehicle records. Quantifying your operational experience—for example, the number of drivers, vehicles, flights, or shifts coordinated—can make your experience easier for recruiters to assess.
Interview Preparation
Expect questions around transport coordination, aviation safety, and managing operational pressure. You may be asked how you would respond to a delayed flight, staffing shortage, vehicle issue, or safety concern while maintaining service delivery.
Prepare examples that demonstrate:
- How you have managed staff rosters and last-minute changes.
- How you handled a transport or operational investigation.
- How you maintained safety during time-critical operations.
- How you allocated drivers or equipment operators efficiently.
- How you monitored operational performance or KPI results.
- How you dealt with multiple priorities during busy flight operations.
Career Growth
Experience in this role can strengthen a professional profile across airport transport, aviation catering, fleet operations, service delivery, and ground-handling environments. Developing expertise in roster planning, safety, KPI management, aircraft servicing, and team coordination can support progression into broader supervisory and airport operations positions.
