Job Description/Specification:
Delta Hotels by Marriott in Doha, Qatar is looking for a Maintenance Supervisor to support the hotel’s Engineering & Facilities operations. This is a full-time, non-management position focused on maintaining hotel equipment, supporting preventive maintenance activities, responding to guest repair requests, and helping ensure a safe and efficient property environment.
The role is suited to an experienced maintenance professional with a technical or vocational background and practical experience in hotel, facilities, building services, or related maintenance operations.
Job Responsibilities
The Maintenance Supervisor will be involved in the day-to-day operation and maintenance of hotel facilities and equipment. Key responsibilities include installing, maintaining, inspecting, and performing preventive maintenance on tools, appliances, machinery, and other equipment.
The position also requires the employee to calibrate controls, gauges, and meters and identify and operate equipment shut-off valves when necessary. Maintenance parts and supplies must be properly ordered, marked, stored, and tracked, with accurate inventory and purchase-order records maintained.
A major part of the role involves inspecting tools, equipment, and machines to identify maintenance requirements and potential operational issues. The successful candidate will also use computer systems to record and retrieve work-related information.
The Maintenance Supervisor will support important hotel safety systems and procedures, including completing life-safety checklists, conducting fire-pump and generator run tests, and inspecting fire sprinkler valves and alarm systems. The role may also contribute to the development of disaster-response procedures.
Guest service is another important aspect of the position. The Maintenance Supervisor is expected to respond to guest repair requests and coordinate appropriate maintenance support while maintaining professional communication and service standards.
Team Supervision and Safety
The position includes responsibilities related to supporting the maintenance team. These may include assisting management with employee hiring, training, scheduling, performance evaluation, coaching, counseling, and motivation.
The successful candidate must follow hotel safety, security, and operational procedures and promptly report maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, and injuries. Maintaining required safety training and certifications is also part of the role.
Strong teamwork and communication are expected. The employee will work with colleagues and other departments to achieve operational goals while maintaining quality, productivity, safety, and cost-efficiency standards.
Physical and Operational Requirements
This is a hands-on maintenance position requiring the ability to visually inspect equipment and perform practical maintenance activities. The role involves bending, twisting, reaching overhead and below the knees, and moving around stairs and service areas.
The successful candidate should be able to lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance and remain standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods when required.
Professional appearance, confidentiality, clear communication, and appropriate guest interaction are also expected in accordance with hotel standards.
Required Qualifications
Candidates should ideally have:
- A Technical, Trade, or Vocational School degree.
- At least 2 years of related work experience.
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Practical experience in maintenance, engineering, facilities, building services, or a related technical environment.
- Ability to inspect and maintain tools, machinery, appliances, and hotel equipment.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance and basic facility safety systems.
- Ability to work with maintenance records, inventories, and purchase-order information.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to respond professionally to guest maintenance requests.
