Job Description/Specification:

An IT Coordinator in the hospitality industry plays an important role in keeping hotel technology reliable, secure, and available for employees and guests. This position combines hands-on technical support with system administration, vendor coordination, IT asset management, and hotel application support.

💼 Key Responsibilities

  • Provide daily technical support for hotel employees, departments, computers, printers, telephones, networks, and other IT equipment.
  • Monitor servers, Wi-Fi, workstations, network infrastructure, and other critical technology systems.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, connectivity, and system-related problems and coordinate timely repairs.
  • Support hotel applications including Property Management Systems (PMS), Point of Sale (POS), interfaces, and operational software.
  • Perform and monitor system and data backups and assist with recovery following technical failures.
  • Manage user accounts, system access, installations, configurations, upgrades, and technology deployments.
  • Maintain appropriate IT security controls to reduce risks involving unauthorized access, malware, and data loss.
  • Coordinate technical support cases, system issues, maintenance, and upgrades with vendors and service providers.
  • Maintain accurate records of IT assets, software licenses, warranties, user access, incidents, and maintenance activities.
  • Assist with audits, IT reporting, contingency planning, and implementation of new technology across hotel operations.

🎯 Requirements

  • Diploma or university degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Programming, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant IT experience, preferably within a hotel or hospitality environment.
  • Previous experience as an IT Coordinator, IT Technician, or similar position is advantageous.
  • Good understanding of computer hardware, software, networking, operating systems, and IT security.
  • Familiarity with hotel systems such as PMS, POS, and related interfaces.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Good organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with hotel departments, vendors, and external service providers.
  • Relevant certifications in networking, systems administration, cybersecurity, or Microsoft technologies are an advantage.
  • Ability to work professionally in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

🚀 Why You'll Love This Opportunity

  • Work across multiple areas of hotel technology rather than focusing on a single IT function.
  • Gain practical exposure to PMS, POS, networking, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and user support.
  • Develop experience coordinating technology vendors and service providers.
  • Participate in system upgrades, implementations, and technology improvement projects.
  • Build specialized IT experience within the hospitality industry.

👤 Who Should Apply?

This role is suitable for an IT support professional who enjoys solving technical problems while working closely with people. The ideal candidate should be comfortable moving between troubleshooting a workstation, supporting a hotel application, checking network availability, managing user access, and coordinating a vendor repair.

Candidates from hotel IT departments can be particularly relevant, but professionals with strong experience supporting business-critical IT environments may also have transferable skills. Patience, attention to detail, confidentiality, and a service-oriented approach are important because technology problems can directly affect hotel employees and guests.

⭐ Skills That Will Help You Succeed

Strong IT fundamentals are essential, particularly in hardware troubleshooting, networking, operating systems, user administration, backups, and system security. Knowledge of hotel PMS and POS platforms can provide an additional advantage.

Soft skills are equally important. You will need to explain technical issues to non-technical employees, prioritize multiple support requests, document incidents accurately, and maintain professional relationships with vendors and hotel departments.

💡 How to Stand Out

Make your CV specific rather than simply listing "IT support." Highlight the hotel systems, infrastructure, networks, applications, and technologies you have actually supported.

Mention measurable achievements where possible—for example, the number of users or departments supported, systems implemented, incidents resolved, network environments maintained, or technology upgrades completed.

If you have experience with PMS, POS, Microsoft technologies, networking, cybersecurity, backups, Active Directory, asset management, or vendor coordination, make these skills easy for recruiters to identify.

🎤 Interview Preparation

Prepare for practical questions such as: How would you troubleshoot a hotel department that suddenly loses network access? or What steps would you take if a PMS or POS system became unavailable?

You may also be asked about backup and recovery procedures, user access controls, cybersecurity risks, hardware troubleshooting, vendor escalation, and handling several urgent support requests simultaneously.

Prepare examples that demonstrate how you diagnosed technical problems, communicated with users, protected sensitive information, and restored services with minimal operational disruption.

📈 Career Growth

An IT Coordinator can progress toward positions such as IT Supervisor, IT Systems Administrator, IT Manager, Hotel IT Manager, Infrastructure Specialist, or IT Security Specialist, depending on technical certifications, system expertise, and leadership experience.
