Job Description/Specification:

A Contracts Officer in Qatar supports the full contract lifecycle, from drafting and internal review through negotiation, approval, finalization, and ongoing performance monitoring. The role requires strong attention to detail, legal and commercial awareness, and the ability to coordinate effectively with internal departments, suppliers, contractors, and external partners.

This opportunity is particularly relevant to professionals with a Law, Contracts, Procurement, or Commercial background who have experience managing agreements in a structured corporate environment.

💼 Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the review, circulation, negotiation, and finalization of contracts within required timelines.
  • Monitor contracts for potential commercial, operational, compliance, and contractual risks.
  • Escalate significant issues to the Contracts Manager and suggest appropriate risk-mitigation measures.
  • Track contract performance and provide regular updates to management.
  • Maintain an accurate database of contract statuses, key information, and performance metrics.
  • Manage vendor creation and related processing through QCAS.
  • Raise QCAS requests according to management instructions and follow up on required actions.
  • Draft contracts and related documentation in accordance with business requirements and legal guidance.
  • Identify exceptions and deviations from company policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and mandatory standards.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders during contract review and negotiation.
  • Support clients, partners, suppliers, and contractors with contract-related information and issues.
  • Maintain a register of approved contract templates, standard terms, and conditions.
  • Support standardization of terms and conditions for different contract types and business models.
  • Ensure contract documentation and records remain organized, current, and accessible.
  • Perform additional duties related to contracts and commercial administration as directed by management.

🎯 Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) is specified for the role.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant job-related experience.
  • Experience in contract management, legal administration, commercial operations, or a related field.
  • Experience in a multinational environment is preferred.
  • Experience within airline, travel, retail, hospitality, or similar industries is advantageous.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong document-control and organizational skills.
  • Good understanding of corporate policies relating to contracts and agreements.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

🚀 Why You'll Love This Opportunity

  • Develop specialist experience across the contract lifecycle.
  • Work with multiple internal departments, suppliers, contractors, and external partners.
  • Gain exposure to contract risk, compliance, negotiation, and performance management.
  • Build experience in a large multinational corporate environment.
  • Develop commercially valuable skills in contract administration and legal coordination.

👤 Who Should Apply?

This position is suited to a Contracts Officer, Contracts Administrator, Legal Officer, Contract Specialist, Commercial Officer, or Legal Executive with relevant corporate experience.

Law graduates with an LLB and practical contract-management experience may find the role particularly relevant. The ideal candidate should be comfortable reviewing contractual documents, identifying inconsistencies, coordinating approvals, and following up with multiple stakeholders.

Strong organization is essential because the role involves maintaining contract registers, monitoring deadlines, tracking vendor creation, and ensuring required actions are completed.

⭐ Skills That Will Help You Succeed

The role requires a combination of contract administration, legal awareness, risk identification, stakeholder management, and document control.

Important skills include contract drafting, reviewing terms and conditions, identifying deviations, maintaining contract databases, coordinating approvals, and communicating contractual requirements clearly.

Strong Excel skills can be useful when maintaining contract trackers and performance information. Attention to detail is particularly important because errors or overlooked contractual requirements can affect business operations and compliance.

The ability to remain organized under pressure is also essential when multiple contracts are progressing simultaneously.

💡 How to Stand Out

Your CV should make your contract-management experience easy to identify.

Highlight:

  • Years of contract or legal experience.
  • Types of contracts handled.
  • Contract drafting and review experience.
  • Contract negotiation and stakeholder coordination.
  • Contract lifecycle management.
  • Risk and compliance monitoring.
  • Vendor or supplier management.
  • Contract database and document-control experience.
  • Experience with QCAS or similar procurement/vendor systems.
  • Standard terms and conditions management.
  • Corporate policy and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience in aviation, travel, hospitality, retail, or multinational companies.
  • LLB or other relevant legal qualifications.

Where possible, describe the volume and complexity of contracts you managed rather than simply listing "contract administration" as a skill.

🎤 Interview Preparation

Expect questions about contract review, risk identification, negotiation, compliance, stakeholder management, and prioritization.

You may be asked how you would handle a contractual deviation from company policy, what steps you would take before escalating a potential contract risk, or how you would manage several agreements approaching their deadlines.

Prepare examples where you identified a contractual issue, coordinated with legal or business teams, and helped bring the matter to resolution.

You should also be prepared to discuss your experience drafting agreements, maintaining contract registers, managing supplier documentation, and working with confidential information.

For the legal component, review common contractual concepts such as terms and conditions, amendments, deviations, obligations, liabilities, approvals, compliance, and risk mitigation.

📈 Career Growth

A Contracts Officer can progress into roles such as Senior Contracts Officer, Contracts Specialist, Contract Manager, Commercial Manager, Procurement Manager, Legal Contracts Manager, or other specialist commercial and legal positions.

Experience across contract drafting, negotiation, compliance, supplier management, and risk can provide a strong foundation for senior contract-management roles.
