Job Description/Specification:

The Assistant Club Manager role is a senior operational position within the fitness, wellness, and hospitality sector. The successful candidate supports the Club Manager in delivering strong commercial performance, operational standards, team development, and an exceptional member experience across fitness, wellness, academy, F&B, retail, and front-of-house functions.

This opportunity is particularly suited to professionals with 5–7 years of experience in fitness clubs, wellness centers, hospitality, leisure, or related operations, especially those with experience managing multicultural teams and fitness professionals.

💼 Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Club Manager with the day-to-day operation and overall performance of the club.

  • Coordinate Fitness, Front of House, Sales, Academy, Wellness, and support teams to maintain smooth operations.

  • Monitor service quality, cleanliness, maintenance, brand presentation, and compliance with SOPs.

  • Support Fitness Managers, Personal Trainers, Coaches, and Group Exercise teams.

  • Monitor trainer performance, attendance, productivity, member engagement, and program delivery.

  • Develop initiatives that improve personal training revenue, membership retention, and member satisfaction.

  • Support wellness programs, fitness challenges, workshops, events, and community activities.

  • Handle member feedback and coordinate initiatives to improve the overall customer experience.

  • Lead team briefings, support onboarding and training, and participate in performance reviews.

  • Work with Sales teams on membership campaigns, revenue targets, retention strategies, and performance improvement.

  • Monitor operational KPIs and prepare performance reports and action plans.

  • Coordinate with maintenance, security, F&B, and other support functions.

  • Assist with budget planning, cost control, risk management, and emergency preparedness.

  • Ensure employees follow health, safety, professional conduct, and operational requirements.

🎯 Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Fitness, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.

  • 5–7 years of experience in fitness clubs, wellness centers, hospitality, leisure, or comparable operations.

  • Previous experience managing fitness teams and club operations.

  • Strong understanding of gym operations, personal training, and wellness services.

  • Experience leading multicultural teams.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Good commercial awareness and understanding of revenue-generating fitness services.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

  • Ability to monitor KPIs and turn performance information into practical action plans.

  • High attention to detail and a performance-focused approach.

🚀 Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • The position combines fitness, wellness, hospitality, and commercial operations.

  • The role provides exposure to multiple revenue streams, including memberships, personal training, academy services, wellness, F&B, and retail.

  • It offers significant responsibility for team performance and member experience.

  • The position involves cross-functional collaboration with Sales, Marketing, Facilities, Fitness, Academy, and Wellness teams.

  • Strong performers can develop broader club-management and hospitality leadership experience.

👤 Who Should Apply?

This role is suitable for an experienced Assistant Club Manager, Fitness Manager, Club Operations Manager, Wellness Manager, Hospitality Operations Manager, or senior fitness professional ready to take on broader operational responsibility.

The ideal candidate understands that successful club management involves more than fitness programming. They should be comfortable balancing member experience, employee performance, commercial targets, facility standards, safety, and operational efficiency.

Candidates who have managed Personal Trainers, coaches, fitness supervisors, or multidisciplinary leisure teams will be particularly relevant.

  • Team leadership and coaching

  • Personal training operations

  • Member retention and engagement

Use measurable achievements wherever possible. Examples include improvements in membership retention, personal-training penetration, PT revenue, academy enrollment, member satisfaction, team productivity, or operational audit results.

Also highlight experience with multicultural teams, fitness challenges, wellness events, recruitment, staff training, and customer-retention initiatives.

If you have managed budgets, operational costs, health and safety audits, or club-opening projects, make those achievements prominent.

🎤 Interview Preparation

Expect questions covering leadership, member experience, commercial performance, and operational problem-solving.

Potential questions include:

  • How would you improve membership retention?

  • How do you manage underperforming Personal Trainers?

  • What KPIs do you monitor in a fitness club?

  • How would you increase personal-training revenue?

  • How do you handle a dissatisfied member?

  • How do you motivate a multicultural team?

  • How do you balance customer experience with operational cost control?

  • How do you ensure health and safety procedures are consistently followed?

  • Tell us about a time you improved an operational process.

Prepare specific examples that demonstrate leadership, measurable results, customer handling, commercial thinking, and effective decision-making.
