We are looking for an experienced Shirt Maker / Thobe Maker to join our workroom in Doha.
You will be responsible for making shirts to individual measurements and specifications, working closely with the Atelier team to achieve a precise fit, clean construction, and refined finish.
This is a full-time, on-site position for an experienced maker who can work independently and take responsibility for the quality of a finished garment.
Experienced shirt makers and thobe makers are welcome to apply, particularly candidates with previous experience in Qatar.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret measurements, patterns, and individual order specifications, confirming all details before beginning work.
- Cut, assemble, and sew shirts accurately and to a consistently high standard.
- Construct and finish collars, cuffs, plackets, sleeves, pockets, seams, hems, and buttonholes according to the required specifications.
- Handle fine cottons, linens, and other shirting fabrics with care.
- Accurately match checks, stripes, and fabric patterns where required.
- Check measurements, symmetry, stitching, construction, and finishing throughout the production process.
- Carry out fitting adjustments and alterations in coordination with the Atelier team.
- Press and finish completed garments to ensure they are ready for final quality inspection.
- Organize work effectively to meet agreed production deadlines.
- Maintain sewing machines, tools, equipment, and the work area in good order.
- Take responsibility for the quality and consistency of each completed garment.
Required Experience & Skills
- Substantial hands-on experience in shirt making or thobe making to a high standard.
- Ability to produce a complete shirt independently, from cutting and assembly through to final finishing.
- Confidence using industrial sewing machines, buttonhole equipment, and professional pressing tools.
- Strong understanding of measurements, garment construction, fit, proportion, and fabric handling.
- Excellent attention to detail and consistently precise workmanship.
- Pride in producing a clean, well-constructed, and professionally finished garment.
- Ability to follow individual order specifications accurately.
- Ability to communicate fitting adjustments and production requirements with colleagues.
- Comfortable working independently while contributing to a small Atelier team.
Preferred Experience
The following experience would be an advantage:
- Previous shirt-making or thobe-making experience in Qatar.
- Experience working in luxury menswear, bespoke, made-to-measure, tailoring, or an Atelier environment.
- Experience handling individual client orders.
- Experience working with fine shirting fabrics.
- Knowledge of traditional and hand-finishing techniques.
