We are seeking an experienced Planning Engineer to join our team in Doha and support the effective planning, scheduling, monitoring, and control of construction projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining project schedules, monitoring progress, identifying potential delays and constraints, and coordinating with project stakeholders to ensure projects are completed within approved timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and regularly update detailed project schedules in coordination with project teams.
- Prepare baseline programs, detailed work schedules, look-ahead schedules, and recovery programs as required.
- Monitor actual project progress against approved baseline schedules and identify variances or potential delays.
- Collect, verify, and analyze progress information received from site teams, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
- Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards, and schedule updates for management.
- Monitor key project milestones, critical activities, and overall schedule performance.
- Identify delays, constraints, schedule risks, and potential impacts, and recommend appropriate corrective or mitigation measures.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Quantity Surveying, and other departments to ensure proper integration of project schedules.
- Prepare short-term look-ahead schedules and manpower/resource plans.
- Assist in the preparation of Extension of Time (EOT), delay analysis, and supporting documentation, when required.
- Participate in project progress meetings and provide clear updates on schedule status, critical activities, and planned actions.
- Maintain accurate records of schedules, updates, progress reports, correspondence, and other planning documentation.
- Support Project Management in achieving planned milestones and ensuring timely project completion.
- Perform other planning and project-control duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in project planning, preferably within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of project planning, scheduling, monitoring, and control techniques.
- Proficiency in Primavera P6 is required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Project and Microsoft Excel is an advantage.
- Experience preparing progress reports, look-ahead schedules, resource plans, and project dashboards.
- Good understanding of construction activities, sequencing, dependencies, and project-control processes.
- Familiarity with delay analysis and Extension of Time (EOT) documentation is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Good communication, reporting, and coordination skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet project deadlines.
- Previous GCC/Qatar construction experience is preferred.
