Job Description/Specification:
We are seeking a creative and experienced Fashion Designer to lead design projects from initial concept through to final production. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing innovative fashion collections that align with the brand's vision, market positioning, and customer preferences.
This role requires strong expertise in fashion design, trend analysis, fabric selection, pattern making, garment construction, print development, embroidery, and technical design. The Fashion Designer will work closely with creative, production, merchandising, procurement, and marketing teams to ensure designs are translated accurately into high-quality finished garments.
About This Role
The Fashion Designer will lead the creative development process, from researching trends and developing concepts to creating technical sketches, samples, prints, embroidery motifs, and production-ready designs.
The role also involves supervising design quality, guiding other designers, coordinating with technical and production teams, and presenting collections to the Creative Director, management, and clients.
Key Responsibilities
Concept Development & Fashion Design
- Lead the creative process and develop innovative, commercially relevant fashion concepts and collections.
- Create detailed design sketches, technical drawings, mood boards, prototypes, and collection concepts.
- Ensure designs remain consistent with the brand's creative direction and market positioning.
- Develop designs from initial concept through sampling and production.
Trend Analysis & Market Research
- Monitor current fashion trends, market developments, competitor collections, and consumer preferences.
- Conduct trend forecasting to identify emerging styles, colours, silhouettes, fabrics, and design directions.
- Incorporate relevant market and trend insights into new collections.
Fabric, Pattern & Garment Development
- Select appropriate fabrics, materials, trims, and embellishments for each design.
- Apply strong knowledge of pattern making and garment construction.
- Collaborate with pattern makers and production teams to ensure designs are technically and commercially achievable.
- Resolve design and manufacturing issues during sample and production development.
Print & Embroidery Development
- Develop various types of print designs, including seamless prints, placement prints, and panel prints.
- Create professional print artwork using Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
- Develop embroidery motifs using different embellishments and embroidery techniques.
- Provide clear design references and specifications to in-house embroiderers and artisans.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Lead and guide designers throughout the creative and product development process.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative design environment.
- Work closely with merchandising, marketing, procurement, production, and technical teams.
- Ensure design concepts are effectively integrated into the overall brand and production strategy.
Quality Control & Production Support
- Oversee the development of samples and prototypes to ensure they meet design specifications.
- Conduct quality checks and provide feedback on samples, fabrics, prints, embroidery, and garment construction.
- Coordinate with production teams to resolve technical or manufacturing concerns.
- Ensure the final products maintain the required design and quality standards.
Presentation & Communication
- Present design concepts and collections to the Creative Director, management, and clients.
- Clearly communicate design concepts, technical requirements, materials, prints, and embellishment details.
- Provide accurate instructions and references to production and technical teams.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Design or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience as a Fashion Designer.
- Strong knowledge of fashion design principles, garment construction, and product development.
- Practical experience in pattern making and fabric selection.
- Strong understanding of fashion trends, market developments, and trend forecasting.
- Hands-on experience in print development, including seamless, placement, and panel prints.
- Strong knowledge of embroidery techniques, embellishments, and motif development.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
- Strong communication, presentation, and teamwork skills.
- Creative, innovative, detail-oriented, and commercially aware.
- Doha/Qatar experience is preferred.
