Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor workshop productivity, efficiency, labor utilization, and overall operational performance.
  • Implement workshop policies, procedures, and systems based on Toyota Customer Service Workshop Management (TSM).
  • Promote the Fix-It-Right and first-time repair principles across workshop operations.
  • Lead and motivate workshop personnel through coaching, training, performance recognition, and effective supervision.
  • Conduct operational meetings and monthly Kaizen sessions to identify problems and improve processes.
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety, and welfare for employees and customers within the workshop.
  • Support Environmental Health and Safety initiatives, including the Dealer Environment Risk Audit Program (DERAP).
  • Develop and implement Kaizen plans and improvement programs for workshop operations.
  • Coordinate with Equipment and Facility teams to control workshop maintenance and repair costs within approved budgets.
  • Ensure vehicles are serviced and repaired to required quality standards while supporting difficult repairs and diagnosis on the workshop floor.
  • Monitor 5S practices and Toyota Motor Corporation standards.
  • Maintain monthly tools and Special Service Tools (SST) inventory controls.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Strong leadership and people-management skills.
  • Ability to supervise automotive workshop operations effectively.
  • Understanding of vehicle maintenance and general repair processes.
  • Ability to monitor productivity, efficiency, and labor utilization.

  • Knowledge of Kaizen and continuous improvement practices.
  • Commitment to workshop safety, environmental standards, and 5S principles.
  • Ability to work with maintenance budgets, inventories, equipment, and operational controls.
  • Good communication and coordination skills across workshop and support teams.

Why You'll Love This Opportunity

  • Opportunity to take responsibility for a complete automotive workshop operation.
  • Exposure to Toyota service management and operational standards.
  • Strong focus on Kaizen and continuous improvement.
  • Opportunity to develop technicians through structured coaching and training.
  • Broad involvement in quality, safety, productivity, cost control, and customer service.

Who Should Apply?

This position is best suited to an automotive workshop professional with strong leadership ability and a practical understanding of vehicle maintenance and repair operations. The ideal candidate should be comfortable managing technicians, resolving workshop challenges, monitoring performance, and maintaining consistent service quality.

A hands-on leadership approach is important because the role requires active involvement on the workshop floor, particularly when supporting complex repairs and diagnosis.

Skills That Will Help You Succeed

Effective leadership is central to this role. You should be able to motivate technicians, provide constructive feedback, identify training needs, and maintain high team morale.

Strong organizational skills are also important for balancing workshop workload, productivity targets, maintenance schedules, inventory, equipment requirements, and safety responsibilities. Knowledge of Kaizen, 5S, Fix-It-Right principles, and structured workshop management will be valuable.

How to Stand Out

Your CV should demonstrate experience supervising automotive workshop activities rather than simply performing technical repairs. Highlight examples of improving workshop productivity, labor utilization, repair quality, customer satisfaction, or turnaround time.

Include measurable achievements where possible, such as improvements in technician productivity, reductions in repeat repairs, successful Kaizen initiatives, improved 5S performance, or effective cost-control measures.

Interview Preparation

Be prepared to explain how you would manage a busy workshop while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity. Interview questions may cover technician performance, difficult vehicle repairs, repeat repair problems, Fix-It-Right practices, Kaizen, 5S, employee motivation, and workshop cost control.

Prepare examples of situations where you identified an operational problem, introduced an improvement, and achieved a measurable result.

Career Growth

Workshop supervision provides a strong foundation for progression into senior aftersales, workshop management, service operations, and automotive business leadership positions.
