Job Description/Specification:


A major power and desalination project in Qatar is seeking a highly experienced Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to provide technical assurance over the contractor’s civil and structural design from project commencement through completion. This role is critical to ensuring the suitability, safety, and compliance of complex onshore and marine infrastructure associated with power generation and desalination facilities.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, review, verify, and approve civil and structural engineering deliverables for the project.

  • Ensure suitability of designs for site development, dynamic equipment foundations, prestressed potable water retaining structures, drainage, switching stations, and electrical yards.

  • Provide technical assurance for engineered elements across onshore and marine infrastructure.

  • Develop scopes of work for geotechnical and topographical investigations and interpret outcome reports.

  • Support construction phases by resolving complex civil and structural engineering issues.

  • Provide expertise across Concept, Feasibility, FEED, and EPIC phases.

  • Ensure compliance with US and European civil/structural codes and standards.

  • Deliver technical solutions independently, ensuring time, cost, and quality objectives are met.

  • Prepare reports, presentations, and technical documentation for management and stakeholders.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

  • Chartered Engineer / Professional Engineer status preferred.

  • Minimum 15 years of relevant post-graduate experience, with at least 10 years in power plants, oil & gas, or heavy industrial projects.

  • Proven experience in site development, roads, earthworks, drainage systems, and utility-scale power plants.

  • Expertise in designing large prestressed potable water retaining structures, seawater tanks, and settlement basins.

  • Experience in nearshore and marine civil infrastructure, including seawater intake, brine discharge, and coastal protection.

  • Strong technical capability to resolve complex engineering issues independently.

  • Familiarity with international civil/structural codes and standards.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in English.

  • Proven ability to work in multicultural teams.
