Job Description/Specification:
Boston Consulting Group (BCG) Platinion is seeking a Principal IT/Digital – Energy Practice to lead complex technology and digital transformation engagements across the Energy sector. The role is based in Doha, Qatar or Saudi Arabia and focuses on helping senior client leaders define IT strategies, develop digital solutions, and deliver large-scale technology transformations.
The successful candidate will combine strong IT consulting, digital transformation, technology architecture, cloud, data and AI expertise with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across Energy, Oil & Gas, and Petrochemical organizations.
About This Role
As a Principal IT/Digital, you will work directly with client leadership teams to understand strategic business and technology challenges, develop pragmatic IT strategies, secure stakeholder alignment, and lead the implementation of high-impact digital solutions.
You will be responsible for both the strategic and operational delivery of consulting engagements, including solution execution, quality and risk management, client expectations, and escalation management. You will also mentor consulting teams and contribute to the continued development of BCG Platinion's Energy and digital technology practice.
Key Responsibilities
IT Strategy & Digital Transformation
- Work with senior client leaders to identify business and technology challenges and define appropriate IT strategies.
- Develop digital transformation roadmaps, technology concepts, and practical solutions that deliver sustainable business value.
- Design and implement digital platforms, technology architectures, and operating models.
- Translate business requirements into scalable technology and digital solutions.
- Support major technology transformation programmes, platform implementations, and application consolidation initiatives.
Technology Architecture, Cloud, Data & AI
- Provide expertise across IT architecture, digital platforms, cloud technologies, data, and AI.
- Assess existing technology landscapes and identify opportunities for modernization and optimization.
- Develop technology concepts and architectures aligned with business strategy and long-term organizational objectives.
- Support clients in leveraging emerging technologies to improve performance and create competitive advantage.
Client Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Build strong relationships with C-suite executives and senior client stakeholders.
- Present complex technology topics and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Manage client expectations, quality, risks, escalations, and project outcomes.
- Act as a trusted technology advisor on issues extending beyond individual project assignments.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead diverse consulting and technical teams across complex transformation engagements.
- Coach team members, provide constructive feedback, encourage knowledge sharing, and support professional development.
- Create an environment that promotes collaboration, innovation, continuous learning, and high performance.
Practice Development
- Contribute to the growth of the BCG Platinion Energy Practice and broader digital capabilities.
- Support business development, client relationship development, and thought leadership initiatives.
- Strengthen BCG Platinion's position as a leading partner for AI, digital transformation, and technology strategy.
Minimum Requirements
- 8–12+ years of experience in IT consulting, technology consulting, or digital transformation.
- Proven experience within the Energy sector, particularly Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, or related industries.
- Strong track record delivering complex IT transformation and digital transformation programmes.
- Expertise in one or more of the following areas:
