Job Description/Specification:


We are seeking an experienced Instrument Engineer to join an Oil & Gas/LNG project in Qatar on a 3-month extendable contract. The successful candidate will supervise and coordinate instrumentation construction activities, including demolition, modification, installation and reinstatement works at project sites.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in Oil & Gas/LNG construction, with a solid understanding of instrumentation systems, site procedures, construction documentation, HSE requirements and QA/QC processes. Previous QELNG experience is highly preferred and may be required based on project requirements.

About This Role

The Instrument Engineer will lead site instrumentation activities and ensure work is executed safely and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs and project standards. The role will also involve preparing construction documentation, coordinating work packs and supporting inspection and approval activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise instrumentation construction activities at site.
  • Plan and coordinate demolition, modification, installation and reinstatement of instrumentation systems.
  • Ensure construction activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs and project requirements.
  • Prepare and review Method Statements, ITPs, JSA/RA, work packs, inspection requests and checklists.
  • Coordinate with construction, engineering, QA/QC, HSE and other project teams.
  • Monitor site activities, workmanship, progress and compliance with project specifications.
  • Review technical requirements and resolve instrumentation-related construction issues.
  • Ensure proper installation and reinstatement of instrument tubing, impulse lines, valves, fittings, manifolds and supports.
  • Ensure compliance with PTW, HSE, QA/QC and site construction procedures.
  • Maintain accurate construction records and documentation.
  • Support inspections, testing, punch-list clearance and project handover activities.
  • Provide technical guidance to instrumentation technicians and site teams.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Instrumentation, Control Engineering or a related discipline.

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant instrumentation/control engineering experience.
  • Strong experience in Oil & Gas/LNG construction projects.
  • Proven experience with instrumentation demolition, modification, installation and reinstatement works.
  • Previous QELNG experience is highly preferred/required, depending on project requirements.
  • Valid Ex-QELNG status and familiarity with QELNG site procedures will be an advantage.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation construction and installation.
  • Instrument tubing and impulse line installation.
  • Valves, fittings, manifolds and instrument supports.
  • Instrumentation and control systems.
  • Construction work packs and technical documentation.
  • Method Statements, ITPs, JSA/RA and inspection documentation.
  • PTW, HSE and QA/QC procedures.
  • Site coordination and construction supervision.
  • Troubleshooting and resolution of instrumentation construction issues.
