Job Description/Specification:
We are seeking an experienced Planning Engineer to join our construction team in Ras Abu Fontas, Qatar for a 1-year contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for project planning, scheduling, progress monitoring and reporting to support the timely and efficient delivery of construction activities.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of construction project planning and hands-on experience with Primavera P6 and/or MS Project. Candidates currently available in Qatar will be preferred.
About This Role
The Planning Engineer will develop and maintain project schedules, monitor actual progress against planned activities and provide accurate reports to support project management and decision-making. The role requires strong analytical, coordination and reporting skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, update and maintain detailed construction project schedules.
- Monitor project progress against approved plans, milestones and deadlines.
- Track actual progress and identify delays, risks and schedule variances.
- Coordinate with project teams to obtain progress updates and ensure accurate reporting.
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly progress reports and schedule updates.
- Support project teams in developing recovery plans and mitigation strategies for delays.
- Review construction activities, sequencing and resource requirements.
- Assist in forecasting project completion dates and identifying potential schedule impacts.
- Maintain accurate planning records and project documentation.
- Coordinate with engineering, construction and project management teams to ensure schedule alignment.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
Experience
- Previous experience as a Planning Engineer in construction projects.
- Construction project experience is preferred.
- Strong understanding of project planning, scheduling, progress monitoring and reporting.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Primavera P6 and/or MS Project.
- Good knowledge of construction planning and scheduling techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prepare and interpret project progress reports.
- Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
