Job Description/Specification:
A leading organization in Qatar is seeking an experienced Construction Supervisor to oversee contractor site activities and construction works for assigned projects. This position is suited to an experienced construction professional with a strong background in oil and gas projects, construction management, QHSE compliance, and site execution.
The Construction Supervisor will play an important role in ensuring that construction activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved project requirements. The position involves close monitoring of contractors, reviewing construction documentation, identifying potential site issues, and supporting projects through completion, commissioning, and handover.
Key Responsibilities
The Construction Supervisor will be responsible for supervising contractor activities at project sites and ensuring that construction work is carried out according to the approved scope, design, schedule, quality requirements, and QHSE standards.
Key responsibilities include monitoring construction and installation activities, coordinating with contractors and relevant project teams, and ensuring that work progresses according to the approved execution schedule.
The role requires the ability to review important construction documentation, including method statements, inspection and test plans, lifting and erection plans, construction schedules, and engineering drawings. The successful candidate will ensure that these documents are properly implemented during site execution.
The Construction Supervisor will also monitor site progress and identify potential bottlenecks, delays, technical issues, or other problems that could affect project completion. Where issues are identified, the supervisor will be expected to recommend practical solutions and coordinate with the relevant teams to support timely resolution.
Another important responsibility is maintaining effective communication between project stakeholders and providing clear reports on construction activities, progress, concerns, and required actions.
The successful candidate will contribute to achieving timely project completion while ensuring that construction activities meet applicable safety, quality, and technical standards. The position may also involve supporting commissioning and final project handover activities.
Experience Requirements
Candidates should have a minimum of 15 years of construction or installation-related experience, including at least 10 years of experience within the oil and gas industry.
Strong practical knowledge of construction activities and QHSE requirements is essential. Candidates should be comfortable working in demanding project environments and supervising contractor activities to ensure compliance with approved procedures and standards.
Experience reviewing construction documentation is important, particularly method statements, inspection and test plans, lifting and erection plans, construction schedules, and engineering drawings.
The ability to recognize potential construction bottlenecks and develop or recommend effective solutions will be an important part of the role.
Strong communication and report-writing skills are also required because the position involves regular coordination with contractors, project teams, and other stakeholders.
Education and Qualifications
Candidates should have a Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline or a relevant diploma combined with extensive construction management experience.
An additional health and safety qualification, such as IOSH or NEBOSH, would be considered valuable.
