Job Description/Specification:
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance & Testing Engineer – 11 kV Switchgear to join our team in Qatar. The role involves executing and supervising 11 kV switchgear maintenance, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities while ensuring compliance with contract requirements, approved procedures, international electrical standards, and KAHRAMAA safety rules.
The successful candidate will coordinate closely with KAHRAMAA Engineers, technicians, clients, service utilities, and site teams to ensure electrical works are completed safely, efficiently, and within the approved scope and schedule.
About This Role
This position is responsible for hands-on and supervisory activities related to 11 kV electrical switchgear and power distribution systems. The engineer will oversee testing and maintenance works, coordinate safety documentation and site approvals, troubleshoot electrical faults, and prepare technical and daily site reports.
The role requires strong knowledge of medium-voltage switchgear systems and the ability to work within KAHRAMAA utility projects, substations, or electrical power distribution environments.
Key Responsibilities
11 kV Switchgear Maintenance & Testing
- Execute and supervise 11 kV switchgear maintenance, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Monitor switchgear testing activities and ensure approved procedures are followed.
- Diagnose and resolve faults associated with 11 kV switchgear and related equipment.
- Ensure testing and commissioning comply with applicable international electrical standards and project requirements.
Site Supervision & Coordination
- Coordinate with KAHRAMAA Engineers to obtain required safety documents, approvals, and work clearances.
- Supervise technicians and site personnel assigned to maintenance and testing activities.
- Coordinate work with other utilities, contractors, clients, and relevant stakeholders.
- Arrange the collection of required materials and equipment from KAHRAMAA stores.
- Obtain necessary site approvals before starting work.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all activities comply with KAHRAMAA safety procedures and site requirements.
- Implement approved work procedures and maintain safe working practices.
- Ensure activities remain within the approved scope, schedule, and contractual requirements.
- Support emergency requirements and remain available for urgent communication outside normal working hours.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare inspection reports, daily work reports, testing records, and other technical documentation.
- Maintain effective communication with KAHRAMAA Engineers, clients, supervisors, and site teams.
- Report work progress, technical issues, faults, and required corrective actions.
Minimum Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution acceptable to KAHRAMAA.
- Advanced training from a recognized organization in 11 kV switchgear maintenance.
- Degree holders: minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
- Diploma holders: minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
- Proven experience as an 11 kV Switchgear Specialist, Maintenance Engineer, or Testing Engineer within an electrical utility or similar organization.
- Strong practical knowledge of 11 kV switchgear installation, maintenance, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Candidates assigned to testing activities must have relevant 11 kV switchgear testing experience.
- Good knowledge of international electrical standards and practices.
- Good command of written and spoken English, including technical reporting.
- Strong supervision, communication, coordination, and problem-solving abilities.
- Willingness to support emergency requirements outside normal working hours.
- Ability to successfully pass the KAHRAMAA interview.

- Previous Qatar or GCC experience is preferred.
