We are seeking an experienced BMU Maintenance Technician to perform preventive and corrective maintenance of Building Maintenance Units (BMUs), suspended access equipment, and façade access systems in Qatar. The role involves inspection, troubleshooting, testing, repair, and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and control systems.

The successful candidate will ensure BMU equipment operates safely and reliably while complying with manufacturer recommendations, approved maintenance procedures, Permit to Work requirements, work-at-height standards, and applicable Qatar safety regulations.

About This Role

The BMU Maintenance Technician will be responsible for routine inspections, preventive maintenance, breakdown response, fault diagnosis, component replacement, testing, and commissioning support. The role requires practical experience working at height and the ability to troubleshoot integrated electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and safety systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of BMUs, cradles, hoists, davits, monorails, and suspended access equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and control-system faults.
  • Inspect and maintain motors, brakes, gearboxes, hoists, wire ropes, sheaves, drums, limit switches, load cells, and safety devices.
  • Test emergency-stop, overload, anti-tilt, limit-switch, emergency-lowering, and other safety functions.
  • Carry out lubrication, adjustments, calibration, component replacement, and equipment repairs.
  • Conduct scheduled daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual inspections according to maintenance plans.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and restore BMU systems safely and efficiently.
  • Assist with load testing, commissioning, third-party inspections, and certification activities.
  • Inspect wire ropes and associated safety components for wear, damage, and correct operation.
  • Follow approved method statements, risk assessments, Permit to Work (PTW) procedures, toolbox talks, and work-at-height requirements.
  • Maintain service reports, inspection checklists, fault reports, maintenance records, and equipment history.
  • Ensure maintenance activities comply with manufacturer recommendations, company procedures, and applicable safety requirements.
  • Coordinate with clients, supervisors, engineers, and other maintenance teams.
  • Support emergency rescue, recovery, and breakdown activities when required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Diploma or ITI qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Electromechanical, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in BMU or suspended access equipment maintenance.
  • Hands-on experience with BMU electrical controls, motors, brakes, hoists, hydraulic power packs, and safety systems.
  • Strong knowledge of BMU troubleshooting and fault diagnosis.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and hydraulic diagrams.
  • Practical experience in preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance.
  • Valid work-at-height and rescue training certification.
  • Good understanding of wire-rope and safety-device inspection.
  • Previous Qatar/GCC experience and BMU manufacturer training/certification are preferred.
  • Physically fit and comfortable working at heights.
  • Good English communication and basic technical report-writing skills.
  • Willingness to attend emergency breakdowns and work outside normal hours when required.
