Job Description/Specification:
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Draftsman to join our team in Qatar. The ideal candidate will have strong experience preparing MEP shop drawings, coordination drawings, as-built drawings, and technical submissions for building and construction projects.
The role requires practical drafting knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, drainage, firefighting, and irrigation systems, along with the ability to coordinate effectively with mechanical engineers, site teams, subcontractors, consultants, and other MEP disciplines.
About This Role
The Mechanical Draftsman will be responsible for producing accurate construction drawings throughout the project lifecycle, from shop drawing preparation and coordination through site revisions and final as-built documentation. Strong AutoCAD and MEP coordination skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed MEP shop drawings for:
- HVAC systems
- Plumbing systems
- Drainage systems
- Firefighting systems
- Irrigation systems
- Prepare and update as-built drawings based on actual site installations and approved changes.
- Develop MEP layouts, technical details, and drawings to support construction activities.
- Prepare MEP coordination drawings and identify/resolve clashes between mechanical and other disciplines.
- Coordinate with Electrical, Civil, and Architectural teams to ensure proper MEP integration.
- Coordinate drawings and technical requirements with subcontractors working under relevant scopes.
- Prepare and submit drawings to consultants and clients in accordance with project procedures.
- Track consultant/client comments, revisions, resubmissions, and approvals.
- Maintain drawing registers, revision records, submission logs, and approval documentation.
- Coordinate with Document Control for drawing transmittals and timely submissions.
- Support the Mechanical Engineer and Project Manager with drafting and technical documentation.
- Assist site teams in resolving drawing-related installation issues and incorporating approved site changes.
Minimum Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Drafting, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience as a Mechanical Draftsman.
- Strong experience in MEP drafting for building and construction projects.
- Practical experience preparing HVAC, plumbing, drainage, firefighting, and irrigation drawings.
- Proven experience with shop drawings, as-built drawings, and coordination drawings.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD is required.
- Good understanding of MEP coordination with Electrical, Civil, and Architectural disciplines.
- Experience coordinating with subcontractors, consultants, clients, and site teams.
- Knowledge of drawing submission, revision, approval, and transmittal procedures.
- Good communication, coordination, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.
- Qatar/GCC project experience is an advantage.

Candidates with Qatar/GCC construction experience and exposure to consultant-driven drawing submission and approval processes will have an advantage.
