Job Description/Specification:
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Draftsman to join our team in Qatar. The ideal candidate will have strong experience preparing electrical construction drawings for building and MEP projects, covering power, lighting, containment, electrical rooms, SLDs, DB schedules, cable sizing, and ELV systems.
The successful candidate will produce accurate technical drawings, coordinate with engineers, consultants, contractors, and site teams, and ensure all drawings are updated in line with project specifications, revisions, and construction requirements.
About This Role
This position requires a technically competent Electrical Draftsman with strong AutoCAD skills and practical knowledge of electrical building services. The candidate should be able to work independently, manage drawing revisions, and support engineering and site teams throughout project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed electrical construction and installation drawings for building and MEP projects.
- Develop power, lighting, and containment layouts in accordance with project requirements.
- Prepare electrical room layouts, details, sections, and equipment arrangements.
- Prepare and update Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) and electrical distribution drawings.
- Develop Distribution Board (DB) schedules and associated electrical documentation.
- Prepare cable sizing, cable routing, and electrical installation drawings.
- Prepare ELV system drawings, including:
- Fire Alarm (FA)
- CCTV
- Access Control System (ACS)
- Lighting Control System (LCS)
- Review electrical specifications, drawings, technical documents, and project requirements.
- Coordinate drawings with electrical engineers and other MEP disciplines.
- Incorporate consultant and client comments and maintain drawing revisions.
- Coordinate with site teams to resolve drawing and installation-related issues.
- Maintain accurate drawing registers, revisions, and project documentation.
- Ensure drawings meet project specifications, applicable standards, and construction requirements.
Minimum Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Drafting, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience as an Electrical Draftsman.
- Strong experience in electrical drafting for building construction and MEP projects.
- Proven knowledge of power, lighting, containment, electrical room layouts, SLDs, and DB schedules.
- Experience preparing ELV drawings, particularly Fire Alarm, CCTV, Access Control, and Lighting Control systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD is mandatory.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Strong coordination, communication, and time-management skills.
- Qatar/GCC project experience is an advantage.
- Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.
