Job Description/Specification:
Mindstream is seeking an experienced Planning Engineer to manage project planning, scheduling, progress monitoring, and programme control for roads and infrastructure construction projects in Qatar.
The successful candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Primavera P6, baseline programme development, schedule updates, look-ahead planning, progress reporting, resource forecasting, and delay analysis. The role requires close coordination with site, engineering, quantity surveying, procurement, and project management teams to ensure accurate progress tracking and timely project completion.
About This Role
The Planning Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining project programmes, monitoring actual progress against approved baselines, identifying schedule variances, and forecasting completion dates. The position will also support Extension of Time (EOT) claims, delay analysis, resource planning, and client-facing progress meetings.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and update baseline project programmes using Primavera P6.
- Prepare and issue weekly and short-term look-ahead programmes for site execution teams.
- Update project schedules based on actual progress, approved variations, scope changes, and revised requirements.
- Monitor project progress against the baseline programme and identify delays, critical activities, and schedule variances.
- Prepare accurate weekly and monthly progress reports for management and clients.
- Forecast project completion dates, manpower requirements, and resource needs.
- Prepare and maintain resource/manpower histograms and project planning data.
- Support delay analysis and Extension of Time (EOT) submissions with relevant programme records and progress information.
- Coordinate with Site Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Procurement, Construction, and other project teams to validate progress data.
- Participate in client progress meetings, planning meetings, and project coordination sessions.
- Highlight potential programme risks and recommend corrective actions to maintain project schedules.
- Maintain accurate planning records, schedule updates, and project progress documentation.
Minimum Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience as a Planning Engineer in roads, highways, infrastructure, or civil construction projects.
- Strong practical experience in Primavera P6 for baseline development, schedule updates, revisions, and progress monitoring.
- Experience preparing look-ahead programmes, progress reports, and resource histograms.
- Strong understanding of construction planning, programme control, progress measurement, forecasting, and schedule management.
- Experience working in client-facing project environments is preferred.

Candidates with strong Qatar/GCC roads and infrastructure project experience and proven Primavera P6 expertise will be highly preferred.
