This opportunity is suited to an engineering professional with strong project management experience in the energy, chemicals, and resources sector, particularly those with experience delivering onshore brownfield projects and working through Pre-FEED and FEED phases.

The role involves overall responsibility for project execution, including scope, schedule, cost, quality, HSE, procurement, construction, risk, design, commercial performance, and stakeholder management.

Project Manager Job Overview

The Project Manager will lead assigned projects or major project workstreams from planning through execution and close-out. The position requires strong technical and commercial understanding, combined with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary engineering, procurement, construction, and support teams.

The successful candidate will act as a key company representative when dealing with customers, suppliers, contractors, and other project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

The Project Manager will be responsible for establishing project objectives and ensuring that execution remains aligned with contractual, technical, financial, safety, and schedule requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Plan, direct, supervise, and control the technical, commercial, administrative, and financial aspects of assigned projects.
  • Act as the company representative with customers, suppliers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Establish project requirements, execution plans, budgets, schedules, and resource requirements.
  • Monitor project progress, milestones, costs, risks, and potential schedule delays.
  • Identify issues and opportunities early and implement appropriate corrective or preventive actions.
  • Manage changes to project scope through an effective change-control process.
  • Ensure contractual requirements and project objectives are clearly defined and maintained.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams and ensure effective communication between engineering disciplines.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships and ensure customer requirements are identified, documented, and communicated.
  • Manage multiple stakeholders throughout project execution.
  • Ensure effective management of project contracts and commercial performance.
  • Monitor project costs, forecasts, estimates, approvals, and trends to prevent cost overruns.
  • Ensure project quality requirements are properly defined and implemented.
  • Establish and maintain project quality systems in accordance with company procedures.
  • Lead project teams by defining roles, responsibilities, objectives, and expectations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate internal and customer progress reporting.
  • Identify, monitor, and manage project risks and opportunities.
  • Coordinate design activities and ensure compliance with the customer's Basis of Design, regulations, and applicable codes.
  • Oversee procurement and subcontract activities to ensure materials and services meet specifications, budget, and delivery requirements.
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure safe and timely project delivery.
  • Support project close-out and ensure effective documentation turnover and lessons learned.

HSE Responsibilities

Health, safety, and environmental performance are a key part of the role. The Project Manager will work with project teams to ensure HSE requirements are understood and followed throughout project execution.

Responsibilities include maintaining a visible HSE focus, identifying and reporting hazards and incidents, supporting safe working practices, and promoting continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental performance.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must hold a full-time Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited university.

MME (Ministry of Municipality and Environment) engineering accreditation is mandatory. Candidates who do not currently hold the accreditation must be willing to obtain it within the probationary period.

Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status, or progress toward achieving CPEng status, will be an advantage.

Required Experience

The position requires significant project management and supervisory experience, including successful delivery of complex projects.

Candidates should have:

  • Strong project management experience within the energy, chemicals, or resources sector.
  • Significant supervisory and/or project management experience.
  • Strong technical and project execution knowledge.
  • Extensive experience with onshore brownfield projects.
  • Mandatory experience in Pre-FEED and FEED phases.
  • Experience coordinating engineering, procurement, construction, and project support functions.
  • Strong understanding of project cost, schedule, scope, quality, risk, and commercial management.

Skills and Competencies

The ideal candidate should have strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities. The role requires an individual who can manage competing priorities while maintaining focus on safety, quality, cost, and schedule.

Strong stakeholder management skills are essential, along with the ability to build productive relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and multidisciplinary project teams.

Who Should Apply?

This opportunity is particularly relevant to experienced Project Managers, Engineering Project Managers, Senior Project Engineers, and project professionals with a strong background in EPC or energy-sector projects.

Professionals with substantial brownfield onshore experience and Pre-FEED/FEED project exposure in Qatar should consider this opportunity. The mandatory MME engineering accreditation requirement should also be carefully considered before applying.
