Airswift is recruiting a Construction Superintendent (Scaffolding) for a major oil and gas operator in Qatar. This is a long-term contract opportunity for an experienced scaffolding professional with extensive oil and gas experience and strong knowledge of engineered scaffolding, work-at-height safety, contractor management, and construction site operations.

The position supports major onshore and offshore project activities associated with offshore compression and requires strong leadership, technical knowledge, and the ability to monitor scaffolding activities across contractor and subcontractor teams.

Construction Superintendent (Scaffolding) Job Overview

The Construction Superintendent will review and assure scaffolding activities across onshore and offshore project scopes, ensuring that work is performed in accordance with applicable standards, project procedures, and industry best practices.

A major part of the role is maintaining strong safety performance during the erection, maintenance, and dismantling of complex engineered scaffolding structures. The successful candidate will also support project teams with risk assessments, contractor audits, competency management, incident investigations, and work-at-height safety.

This is a site-based position in Qatar with a residential work arrangement.

Key Responsibilities

The Construction Superintendent will be responsible for:

  • Reviewing scaffolding project scopes to ensure compliance with applicable standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Auditing the project's ScafTag system.
  • Monitoring and auditing EPC contractors and subcontractors responsible for scaffolding activities.
  • Reviewing scaffolding training and competency programs against project requirements.
  • Addressing work-at-height safety issues and supporting effective intervention programs.
  • Providing input into scaffolding contractor and subcontractor prequalification activities.
  • Participating in qualification visits and audits covering policies, procedures, training, and competency management systems.
  • Supporting Project Management Teams with risk screening and formal risk assessments for scaffolding activities.
  • Acting as the onshore PMT focal point for resolving scaffolding-related issues at site.
  • Monitoring the skills development and competency of contractor and subcontractor scaffolding personnel.
  • Supporting strategies based on trends identified through SHE&S data.
  • Participating in or leading incident investigations when required.
  • Establishing strong SHE&S communication networks across project contracting levels.
  • Sharing lessons learned and scaffolding best practices across project teams.
  • Supporting consistent implementation of safety practices throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Providing visible safety leadership through effective field engagement.
  • Developing and implementing field strategies to monitor safety campaigns and hazard management programs.
  • Working closely with project, construction, contractor, and safety teams to maintain safe and effective scaffolding operations.

Scaffolding Technical Requirements

This role requires a high level of technical knowledge and practical experience in scaffolding within oil and gas environments.

Candidates must hold:

  • CISRS Level III or ECITB Advanced Level certification.
  • Minimum 12 years of diversified oil and gas operations experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a senior supervisory position.
  • Ability to review engineered scaffolding designs.
  • Comprehensive understanding of NASC Technical Guidance TG20.

Knowledge of LNG operating standards and procedures is considered advantageous.
