Job Description/Specification:
We are seeking an experienced Demolition Engineer / Demolition Supervisor to oversee the planning, design, execution and safe completion of demolition works within an Oil & Gas / Petroleum environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing demolition methodologies, supervising site activities, managing structural risks and ensuring compliance with applicable HSE and regulatory requirements.
The role requires strong practical knowledge of demolition methods, structural stability, hazardous materials, asbestos management, waste disposal and environmental controls, along with the ability to coordinate effectively with structural engineers, HSE teams, subcontractors and project management.
About This Role
The successful candidate will manage demolition activities from pre-demolition assessment and planning through execution, waste management and final documentation. The position requires a strong safety-first approach and the ability to stop or modify works when structural or operational risks are identified.
Key Responsibilities
Demolition Planning & Design
- Prepare and review demolition method statements, risk assessments and work programmes.
- Conduct pre-demolition structural assessments to identify potential hazards and stability risks.
- Develop phased demolition sequences that protect adjacent structures, personnel and the public.
- Coordinate with structural engineers and project teams to validate demolition methodologies.
Site Supervision & Execution
- Supervise demolition crews, subcontractors and site activities in accordance with approved procedures.
- Oversee manual, mechanical, selective and total demolition methods.
- Ensure appropriate use of demolition plant, machinery and equipment.
- Establish and maintain safe exclusion zones and controlled work areas.
- Monitor structural stability throughout progressive demolition and immediately stop work where safety concerns arise.
HSE & Regulatory Compliance
- Enforce site HSE procedures, permit-to-work requirements, dust suppression and asbestos management protocols.
- Coordinate pre-demolition surveys and hazardous material assessments with HSE teams.
- Manage risks associated with asbestos, lead and other hazardous materials.
- Ensure demolition activities comply with Qatar Civil Defense and Municipality requirements and applicable international standards.
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings and workforce awareness sessions.
Waste & Environmental Management
- Manage demolition debris, waste segregation, removal and disposal.
- Coordinate recycling and salvage activities to reduce landfill waste.
- Maintain waste disposal records and required environmental monitoring documentation.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare daily and weekly demolition progress reports, logs and site records.
- Maintain accurate demolition and as-built records and update drawings where required.
- Report incidents, near misses, structural concerns and unsafe conditions to the Project Manager immediately.
Minimum Requirements
- Relevant engineering, construction or demolition experience within major projects.
- Valid certification in demolition safety or relevant industry qualifications such as CCDO or equivalent is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of demolition planning, sequencing and site execution.
- Practical experience with hazardous material removal and asbestos management.
- Knowledge of environmental requirements related to demolition waste and material disposal.
- Familiarity with Qatar Civil Defense and Qatar Municipality regulations governing demolition works.
- Strong understanding of site HSE procedures and risk management.
- Ability to lead demolition crews and coordinate effectively with subcontractors and project teams.

Desired Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should be a safety-focused professional with strong hands-on demolition experience and the ability to manage complex site activities. Candidates with CCDO or equivalent demolition qualifications, asbestos management experience and knowledge of Qatar's demolition regulations will have an advantage.
Experience within Oil & Gas, Petroleum, industrial facilities or major infrastructure projects is highly relevant for this position.
