Job Description/Specification:


Qatar University is seeking a qualified and experienced Genetic Counselling Faculty professional to join its academic team. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching, clinical training, student supervision, research, mentoring and academic service within the Genetic Counselling Master’s program.

The role is suited to a Certified Genetic Counsellor (CGC) with a Master’s degree in Genetic Counselling, clinical training experience and a strong interest in teaching and developing future genetic counselling professionals.

About This Role

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in genetic counselling and support the clinical coordination of the Master’s program. The position also involves working with healthcare partners, supervising students, contributing to research publications and participating in committees at the program, department, college and university levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach courses covering principles and advanced principles of genetic counselling and clinical genetic counselling practice.
  • Serve as Clinical Coordinator for the Genetic Counselling Master’s program, including collaboration and joint appointments with healthcare partners.
  • Support clinical education, training and supervision of genetic counselling students.
  • Mentor students undertaking capstone projects and provide academic and professional guidance.
  • Contribute to research activities and strengthen the College’s research profile through academic publications.
  • Participate in committees and academic activities at the Program, Department, College and University levels.
  • Collaborate effectively with faculty members, healthcare professionals and other stakeholders.
  • Support students from diverse backgrounds and promote an inclusive learning environment.
  • Undertake additional academic responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Department.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Genetic Counselling.
  • Certified Genetic Counsellor (CGC) certification.
  • Strong experience in clinical training and student supervision.
  • Teaching experience at undergraduate and/or graduate levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work effectively as part of multidisciplinary teams.
  • Awareness and understanding of working with people from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
