Job Description/Specification:

A Guest Service Agent is one of the key points of contact between a hotel and its guests. The role focuses on creating a welcoming experience, responding to requests, resolving service concerns, and coordinating with different hotel departments. This opportunity in Doha is well suited to hospitality professionals who enjoy guest interaction and want to develop their hotel operations experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Anticipate guest requirements and respond to questions, requests, and concerns in a professional and attentive manner.
  • Provide accurate information about hotel rooms, facilities, rates, restaurants, spa services, promotions, and other available offerings.
  • Take ownership of guest service interactions and ensure established service standards are consistently maintained.
  • Follow up promptly on guest complaints, requests, and satisfaction-related issues.
  • Suggest suitable alternatives and solutions based on individual guest requirements.
  • Coordinate with front office, housekeeping, food and beverage, spa, and other departments to resolve guest needs.
  • Maintain a positive and professional relationship with colleagues across the hotel.
  • Participate in daily briefings, hotel events, and training sessions to strengthen operational and service knowledge.
  • Maintain accurate communication when handing over outstanding guest requests between shifts.
  • Contribute to a smooth and personalized guest experience throughout the stay.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in hotel front office or guest-service operations is preferred.
  • Strong customer-service orientation and a genuine interest in helping guests.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good English communication skills; Arabic language ability is an advantage.
  • Ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Basic to good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with hotel Property Management Systems (PMS) is preferred.
  • Ability to remain professional and composed when handling multiple guest requests.
  • Strong teamwork and coordination skills.

Why You'll Love This Opportunity

  • Gain experience in a resort-based hospitality environment in Doha.
  • Develop valuable guest-relations and front office skills.
  • Work closely with multiple hotel departments and learn wider hotel operations.
  • Receive opportunities to strengthen professional skills through training and daily operational exposure.
  • Build experience that can support future progression within the hospitality industry.

Who Should Apply?

This role is suitable for hospitality professionals who enjoy direct interaction with guests and take pride in delivering attentive service. Candidates with previous front office, guest relations, reception, or hotel customer-service experience can be particularly well suited.

The ideal candidate should be patient, approachable, and proactive. Rather than simply responding to requests, a strong Guest Service Agent looks for practical ways to anticipate what a guest may need and follows through until the issue is resolved.

Skills That Will Help You Succeed

The most useful skills include guest relationship management, verbal communication, problem solving, service recovery, hotel systems, teamwork, and attention to detail.

Knowledge of a Property Management System can help candidates adapt quickly to hotel operations. Language skills are also valuable because hospitality professionals regularly interact with guests from different countries and backgrounds.

How to Stand Out

Avoid listing only generic responsibilities on your CV. Highlight specific examples of guest-service situations you have handled.

Mention experience with hotel PMS platforms, front desk procedures, guest complaints, VIP guests, room-related requests, cross-department coordination, and service recovery. If you have received positive guest feedback or helped improve the guest experience, include those achievements.

Clearly list your language skills and your availability for shift-based hospitality work.

Interview Preparation

Be prepared for questions such as:

  • How would you handle an unhappy hotel guest?
  • What would you do if you could not immediately fulfill a guest's request?
  • How do you prioritize several guest requests at the same time?
  • How would you coordinate with another department to resolve a guest issue?
  • What does excellent guest service mean to you?

Use real examples wherever possible. Interviewers will want to see that you can remain calm, communicate clearly, take ownership, and follow through.

Career Growth

Guest Service Agent experience can provide a pathway toward roles such as Senior Guest Service Agent, Guest Relations Officer, Front Office Supervisor, Assistant Front Office Manager, and Front Office Manager.
