Job Description/Specification:
A senior marine inspection opportunity is available for an experienced maritime professional to conduct vessel inspections, audits, and operational assessments within Qatar’s offshore and marine environment. The role focuses on vessel compliance, safety, environmental standards, and operational integrity across QatarEnergy-related activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct marine inspections and audits on vessels operating within designated offshore areas.
- Perform and oversee Port State Control inspections, OVID audits, and DP trials.
- Assess vessels for compliance with international, regional, local, and contractual requirements.
- Evaluate vessel crew competency and qualifications for key personnel.
- Review vessel movements, offshore operations, cargo activities, and marine procedures.
- Develop, review, and maintain marine standards, procedures, and technical documentation.
- Prepare inspection reports, technical reports, presentations, and official memoranda.
- Participate in technical workshops, meetings, audits, and marine investigations.
- Identify operational risks and support corrective actions to maintain marine safety.
- Promote HSE policies and contribute to a strong safety culture.
Requirements
- STCW Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency (STCW III/2).
- Minimum 10 years of relevant offshore or Oil & Gas marine experience.
- At least 3 years of experience as Chief Engineer on offshore vessels or in marine operations.
- Strong knowledge of IMO, IACS, class rules, flag-state requirements, and offshore regulations.
- Experience with offshore vessels such as PSV, AHTS, ASD Tugs, jack-up barges, and subsea vessels.
- Experience with DP2 or DP3 vessels is preferred.
- OCIMF-accredited OVID Inspector status or suitable experience toward accreditation is preferred.
- Background in marine surveying, vessel chartering inspections, marine auditing, Port State Control, or accident investigation.
- Excellent English communication and technical report-writing skills.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
