Job Description/Specification:
A leading organisation in Qatar is seeking an experienced Senior Sustainability Professional to lead environmental and sustainability studies for major construction, infrastructure, utility, and development projects. The role focuses on sustainability planning, environmental performance, monitoring, auditing, reporting, and integrating sustainability principles into project delivery.
The successful candidate will provide senior technical expertise across environmental management and sustainability programmes, ensuring projects meet regulatory, environmental, and sustainability objectives while supporting responsible and efficient project execution.
About This Role
The Senior Sustainability Professional will lead the development and implementation of environmental management plans, sustainability performance frameworks, assessments, monitoring programmes, and technical reports. The role requires extensive professional experience and the ability to work with multidisciplinary project teams, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Environmental & Sustainability Management
- Lead environmental sustainability planning and performance management for construction projects.
- Develop and deliver Comprehensive Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMP) and Strategic Construction Environmental Management Plans (SCEMP).
- Establish sustainability monitoring, performance indicators, reporting, and auditing frameworks.
- Integrate environmental and sustainability requirements into project planning and delivery.
- Monitor project compliance with environmental commitments, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Environmental Assessment
- Lead and support Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA/ESIA).
- Evaluate environmental risks and impacts associated with construction and infrastructure activities.
- Develop practical mitigation and sustainability measures.
- Conduct environmental inspections, monitoring, audits, and performance reviews.
Environmental Damage & Rehabilitation
- Conduct environmental damage and loss assessments.
- Support compensation planning and rehabilitation strategies.
- Assess and develop financial costing of environmental damages and losses.
- Conduct related environmental audits and assessments.
Reporting & Stakeholder Management
- Prepare high-quality technical reports, environmental documentation, presentations, and correspondence.
- Provide specialist advice to project management and multidisciplinary teams.
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors, government bodies, and other stakeholders.
- Present sustainability performance, environmental risks, and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline with at least 15 years of relevant environmental experience.
- Alternatively, a Master's degree in a relevant discipline with at least 10 years of relevant environmental experience.
- Research-focused experience will not be counted toward the required professional experience.
- Extensive experience in environmental sustainability, construction, infrastructure, utilities, or environmental consultancy.

- Strong understanding of environmental sustainability and construction environmental management.
- Proven experience developing environmental management plans and sustainability performance frameworks.
- Strong analytical, technical-reporting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent English written and verbal communication.
- Strong computer and presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and complex projects.
Certifications & Standards
- ISO 14001 certification is required or highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of the ISO 14060 series and greenhouse gas/carbon-related standards.
- Knowledge of environmental and sustainability management systems is preferred.

- Previous experience with a Qatar public-sector or semi-government entity.
- Experience delivering major infrastructure, utility, or complex construction programmes elsewhere in the GCC.
- International environmental consultancy experience on large-scale infrastructure and construction projects.
- Strong understanding of Qatar/GCC environmental requirements and sustainability practices.
- Arabic language skills are an advantage.
