Job Description/Specification:
A leading fashion business in Doha, Qatar is seeking an experienced Fashion Designer to lead creative projects from concept development through final production. The role will focus on creating innovative collections aligned with the brand's identity, market positioning, and customer expectations.
The successful candidate will combine strong creative ability with technical fashion knowledge, including fabric selection, pattern making, garment construction, print and embroidery development, sample evaluation, and production coordination.
About This Role
The Fashion Designer will lead the design process, monitor fashion trends, develop collections and technical artwork, and collaborate with production, merchandising, procurement, marketing, and other teams to ensure designs are successfully translated into finished garments.
The position also includes team leadership, quality control, client presentations, and communication of detailed design specifications to internal production teams and artisans.
Key Responsibilities
Concept & Collection Development
- Lead the creative process and develop innovative, trend-focused fashion concepts.
- Create collections aligned with brand identity, market positioning, and consumer preferences.
- Develop mood boards, design concepts, technical sketches, and prototypes.
- Present collections and concepts to Creative Directors, management, and clients.
Trend & Market Analysis
- Monitor global fashion trends, market developments, and competitor collections.
- Apply trend forecasting to identify emerging styles and consumer preferences.
- Translate market insights into commercially relevant design concepts.
Technical Design
- Select appropriate fabrics, materials, colors, and finishes for collections.
- Apply strong knowledge of pattern making and garment construction.
- Work closely with pattern makers and production teams to resolve technical challenges.
- Ensure designs are practical and suitable for efficient manufacturing.
Print & Embroidery Development
- Create seamless, placement, panel, and other print designs using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Develop original embroidery motifs and detailed embellishment concepts.
- Provide clear artwork and technical guidance to in-house embroiderers and artisans.
- Ensure print and embroidery execution remains consistent with the original design vision.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead and guide designers throughout the creative and development process.
- Encourage innovation, creativity, and collaboration within the design team.
- Work closely with merchandising, marketing, procurement, production, and technical teams.
- Ensure design decisions support wider brand and commercial objectives.
Quality Control
- Oversee samples, prototypes, fittings, and product development.
- Conduct quality reviews to ensure garments meet approved design specifications.
- Identify design or production issues and provide corrective feedback.
- Maintain consistent quality across collections and finished products.
Minimum Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, Textile Design, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of professional fashion-design experience.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating original collections and commercial fashion work.
- Previous experience working with production, pattern makers, and garment manufacturers is preferred.
- Doha/Qatar-based candidates are preferred.
