Job Description/Specification:
Boston Consulting Group (BCG) is seeking a Learning Design Specialist / Senior Specialist to support the development and continuous improvement of BCG U's learning solutions. The role focuses on translating business and capability needs into engaging, practical, and scalable learning experiences aligned with adult learning principles and learning science.
The successful candidate will work with consultants, senior leaders, subject matter experts, vendors, and client teams to design learning journeys, digital content, simulations, masterclasses, and other learning formats that drive measurable business impact.
About This Role
As a Learning Design Specialist, you will contribute to end-to-end learning design projects, from understanding learner and business needs through content development, prototyping, stakeholder review, and final delivery. The position combines instructional design, digital learning, behavioral science, stakeholder management, and consulting.
Key Responsibilities
Learning & Instructional Design
- Translate complex business requirements and skill gaps into focused learning strategies.
- Design learner-centric programs based on adult learning and behavioral science principles.
- Develop self-paced modules, masterclasses, role plays, simulations, and interactive learning experiences.
- Create ILT, VILT, WBT, micro-learning, and social-learning solutions.
- Design curricula, assessments, learner journeys, and supporting materials.
- Continuously update learning content to reflect business priorities, industry trends, and best practices.
Content Development & Innovation
- Create engaging digital learning content using e-learning authoring, video editing, and visual design tools.
- Develop interactive videos, simulations, infographics, and other multimedia resources.
- Standardize and customize learning materials across programs.
- Explore and apply generative AI tools to improve learning design and content development.
Project & Stakeholder Management
- Manage learning design projects from scoping and stakeholder alignment through prototyping and delivery.
- Partner with consultants, SMEs, internal experts, and external vendors to develop high-quality content.
- Review learning work products for quality, accuracy, consistency, and learner impact.
- Develop facilitator guides and enablement materials to support confident delivery and adoption.
- Work with international and cross-functional teams to diagnose capability needs and deliver scalable solutions.
Minimum Requirements
Education & Experience
- 4–6 years of instructional design or learning design experience.
- Strong knowledge of learning science, adult learning, and behavioral principles.
- Experience designing curricula, assessments, and learning journeys.
- Experience developing ILT, VILT, WBT, micro-learning, and social-learning programs.
- Experience working with international teams or markets.
- Previous consulting experience with cross-functional client teams is preferred.
