- Create and maintain accurate guest accounts, including room charges, taxes and incidentals.
- Assist with payment-processing problems and coordinate solutions when required.
- Follow up with guests to ensure issues have been resolved satisfactorily.
- Coordinate with housekeeping to monitor room readiness and support timely check-ins.
- Manage room blocks and record specific guest requirements and requests.
- Arrange suitable alternative accommodation when the hotel is unable to honour a reservation.

- Build front office experience in a luxury hospitality environment in West Bay.
- Develop skills across reception, guest services and hotel operations.
- Gain practical experience with reservations, room inventory and payment processing.
- Work closely with housekeeping and other operational departments.
- Develop a foundation for progression into hotel front office management.
Who Should Apply?
This position is suited to hospitality professionals who are confident dealing directly with guests and comfortable handling operational details.
Candidates with previous experience as Front Desk Agents, Receptionists, Guest Service Agents or Reservations Agents may have a strong foundation for the role.
You should be organised and able to remain professional when the front desk becomes busy. The ability to handle guest complaints, payment issues and room-related problems calmly is particularly important.
Attention to detail is also essential because small errors in reservations, room assignments or guest accounts can affect the overall guest experience.
Skills That Will Help You Succeed
Strong customer service skills are at the centre of the position. You should be able to listen carefully, understand guest requirements and coordinate with the right department to resolve problems.
Financial accuracy is another important area. Front desk staff need to process payments correctly, maintain guest accounts and complete cash and receipt reconciliation.
Other useful skills include:
- Hotel property management system familiarity
- Reservation handling
- Payment processing
- Cash handling
- Room inventory coordination
- Complaint resolution
- Telephone etiquette
- Time management
- Attention to detail
- Cross-department communication
How to Stand Out
Your CV should demonstrate practical front office experience rather than simply listing customer service as a skill.
Highlight:
- Number of guests or transactions handled during a typical shift.
- Experience with hotel PMS or reservation systems.
- Cash and credit card payment responsibilities.
- Experience handling room assignments and reservations.
- Examples of resolving guest complaints or service problems.
- Experience coordinating with housekeeping.
- Any recognition for guest service or positive customer feedback.
- Experience working busy shifts or high-occupancy periods.
If you have experience balancing cash banks or reconciling receipts, make sure it is clearly visible on your CV.
Interview Preparation
Prepare for questions about handling difficult guests, payment problems, overbookings and rooms that are not ready when a guest arrives.
You may be asked how you would respond if a guest's credit card payment failed, how you would manage an overbooked hotel or what you would do when housekeeping has not released a reserved room.
Be ready to demonstrate both customer service judgement and financial accuracy. Explain how you would remain calm, communicate clearly and involve the appropriate department when necessary.
Career Growth
Front Desk Agent experience can lead to positions such as Senior Front Desk Agent, Guest Relations Officer, Front Office Supervisor, Duty Manager, Assistant Front Office Manager and Front Office Manager.
