Job Description/Specification:
Rosewood Doha is seeking a professional and guest-focused Patisserie & Cake Shop Associate to support the daily operation of its patisserie and cake shop. The role combines luxury guest service, order management, product knowledge, sales, and coordination with the pastry production team to deliver exceptional cakes, pastries, desserts, and customized orders.
The successful candidate will provide personalized service to hotel guests and walk-in customers, manage special and customized cake requirements, process sales transactions, maintain outstanding product presentation, and ensure all orders are accurately prepared and delivered on time.
About This Role
As a Patisserie & Cake Shop Associate, you will be a key point of contact for guests purchasing cakes, pastries, chocolates, desserts, and other patisserie products. You will understand customer preferences and occasions, provide informed recommendations, and coordinate closely with the Pastry Chef and production team.
The position requires strong attention to detail, excellent product knowledge, sales ability, and a genuine passion for luxury hospitality. You will also support VIP, corporate, wedding, birthday, and special-event orders while maintaining Rosewood's service and brand standards.
Key Responsibilities
Patisserie Operations & Guest Service
- Coordinate the daily operation of the patisserie and cake shop to ensure efficient service.
- Welcome hotel and walk-in guests and provide personalized, professional assistance.
- Handle cake, pastry, dessert, chocolate, and customized cake orders accurately.
- Understand guest preferences, occasions, dietary requirements, and special requests.
- Provide recommendations based on product characteristics, flavors, occasions, and guest preferences.
- Handle guest inquiries, feedback, and complaints promptly and professionally.
Cake & Order Coordination
- Coordinate with the Pastry Chef and production team to ensure orders meet guest specifications.
- Monitor customized cake orders and ensure timely preparation and delivery.
- Maintain accurate records of pre-orders, special requests, customized designs, and customer preferences.
- Coordinate requirements for VIP, corporate, wedding, birthday, and other special events.
- Ensure takeaway cakes and pastries are professionally packaged, labeled, and presented.
Sales & Revenue Generation
- Promote cakes, pastries, chocolates, desserts, seasonal collections, and signature products.
- Drive revenue through effective upselling and cross-selling.
- Promote new products, festive collections, special offers, and patisserie events.
- Maintain strong knowledge of product pricing and availability.
- Process sales transactions accurately through the POS system.
- Follow established cash-handling and payment procedures.
Product Presentation & Inventory
- Maintain exceptional presentation standards across counters, shelves, displays, and refrigerated cabinets.
- Monitor product freshness, availability, labeling, expiry dates, and overall presentation.
- Conduct daily stock checks and coordinate replenishment of products and packaging materials.
- Ensure products are displayed according to Rosewood brand and quality standards.
- Maintain clean, organized, and guest-ready sales areas.
Cross-Departmental Coordination
- Coordinate with Front Office, Concierge, Events, Sales, Pastry, and other departments for guest and event requirements.
- Support special celebrations, corporate functions, weddings, and other events.
- Assist with promotional campaigns, festive launches, new product introductions, and special patisserie activations.
- Maintain effective communication with internal teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Hospitality, Food & Beverage, Culinary, Business Administration, or a related qualification is an advantage.
Experience
- Previous experience in patisserie, cake shops, pastry retail, luxury hospitality, food & beverage, or premium customer service is preferred.
- Experience handling customized cakes, dessert orders, or special-event requirements is an advantage.
- Experience in a luxury hotel or high-end retail environment is highly desirable.
