Job Description/Specification:
A leading fashion business in Doha is seeking an experienced Fashion Designer to lead design projects from concept to completion while ensuring alignment with brand identity, customer preferences, and market trends. The role requires strong creative, technical, and leadership capabilities across fashion design, garment development, prints, embroidery, and production.
The successful candidate will develop innovative collections, oversee samples and prototypes, collaborate with production and merchandising teams, and maintain high design and quality standards. Strong knowledge of fashion trends, fabrics, pattern making, garment construction, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop is essential.
About This Role
As a Fashion Designer, you will manage the end-to-end fashion design process, from trend research and concept development to technical execution, sampling, presentation, and production. You will work closely with creative, production, procurement, merchandising, and marketing teams to transform design concepts into commercially viable fashion collections.
The position also involves leading design team members, developing print and embroidery concepts, reviewing prototypes, and ensuring finished products meet established design specifications and quality expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Fashion Design & Concept Development
- Lead the creative development of innovative and trend-focused fashion collections.
- Create design concepts, mood boards, technical sketches, prototypes, and collection presentations.
- Ensure designs reflect brand identity, market positioning, customer preferences, and commercial objectives.
- Present collections and design concepts to the Creative Director, management, and clients.
Trend & Market Research
- Monitor fashion trends, market developments, consumer preferences, and competitor collections.
- Use trend forecasting to identify emerging styles, colors, fabrics, patterns, and design opportunities.
- Translate market insights into commercially relevant fashion concepts.
Technical Design & Garment Development
- Select appropriate fabrics, trims, embellishments, and materials for collections.
- Apply strong knowledge of pattern making and garment construction.
- Work with pattern makers and production teams to resolve technical and manufacturing challenges.
- Ensure designs can be effectively translated into production-ready garments.
Print & Embroidery Development
- Develop seamless, placement, panel, and other print designs using Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
- Create embroidery motifs using different embellishment techniques and materials.
- Prepare clear design references and specifications for in-house embroiderers and artisans.
- Ensure print and embroidery execution remains consistent with the original design concept.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead and guide designers throughout the creative and development process.
- Encourage innovation, creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the design team.
- Collaborate with merchandising, marketing, procurement, production, and technical teams.
- Coordinate design requirements to ensure smooth transition from concept to production.
Quality Control
- Oversee samples, prototypes, and product development to ensure compliance with design specifications.
- Conduct quality reviews and provide corrective feedback where required.
- Monitor garment construction, fabric selection, prints, embroidery, finishing, and overall design execution.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, Textile Design, or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience as a Fashion Designer.
- Proven experience developing fashion collections from concept through production.
- Experience with fabric selection, pattern making, garment construction, prints, embroidery, and sampling.
- Experience collaborating with production teams, artisans, pattern makers, and cross-functional departments.
