Boston Consulting Group (BCG) is seeking a Learning Design Specialist / Senior Specialist to support the development and continuous improvement of high-impact learning solutions through BCG U. The role focuses on instructional design, digital learning, curriculum development, and capability-building programs aligned with business needs and modern learning practices.

The successful candidate will translate complex business requirements into engaging learner experiences, collaborate with subject matter experts and vendors, and develop scalable learning solutions that improve skills, engagement, knowledge retention, and on-the-job performance. This is a client-facing opportunity requiring strong consulting, stakeholder management, learning design, and digital content development capabilities.

About This Role

As a Learning Design Specialist / Senior Specialist, you will work with consultants, BCG leadership, knowledge teams, subject matter experts, and external partners to design and enhance learning programs. You will contribute across the full learning design lifecycle, from needs analysis and curriculum planning to prototyping, content development, review, and final delivery.

The position requires practical knowledge of adult learning, learning science, behavioral change, instructional design, and multiple learning formats, including instructor-led, virtual, web-based, micro-learning, and social learning.

Key Responsibilities

Learning & Instructional Design

  • Design learner-centric programs using adult learning, learning science, and behavioral change principles.
  • Translate business requirements and identified skill gaps into focused learning strategies and solutions.
  • Develop self-paced courses, masterclasses, simulations, role plays, videos, infographics, and interactive learning experiences.
  • Design curricula, assessments, learner journeys, and supporting learning materials.

Content Development & Innovation

  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve custom learning content based on evolving business priorities and industry trends.
  • Create digital learning content using e-learning authoring, video editing, and visual design tools.
  • Standardize existing learning materials while adapting content to specific programs, audiences, and client requirements.
  • Apply generative AI tools to improve learning content development and design processes.

Stakeholder & Project Management

  • Manage learning design projects from initial scoping and stakeholder alignment through prototyping and final delivery.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, senior leaders, internal knowledge teams, and instructional design vendors.
  • Review learning work products to ensure quality, consistency, accuracy, and alignment with learning objectives.
  • Develop facilitator guides and enablement materials to support confident program delivery and adoption.

Consulting & Client Engagement

  • Work as a learning design expert within client-facing consulting teams.
  • Diagnose capability and learning needs and recommend scalable solutions.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to integrate learning initiatives into real-world business challenges.
  • Support advisory engagements that deliver measurable capability and business impact.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Instructional Design, Learning & Development, Education, Organizational Psychology, Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline.

Experience

  • 4–6 years of professional experience in instructional design, learning design, learning and development, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience designing curricula and assessments.
  • Experience developing ILT, VILT, WBT, micro-learning, and social learning programs.
  • Experience working with subject matter experts, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Experience working with international teams or global markets.
  • Consulting experience involving client needs assessment, solution design, and advisory delivery is highly desirable.

Professional Skills

  • Hands-on experience using generative AI tools for learning content development and productivity.
  • Knowledge of digital learning, simulations, interactive content, and multimedia development.
