Solution Architect

Qatar Airways is seeking an experienced Solution Architect to design scalable, secure, and business-aligned technology solutions across its IT landscape. The role will be responsible for translating business requirements into end-to-end technical architectures, defining technology standards, managing architectural risks, and ensuring successful delivery across projects and programmes.

The successful candidate will combine strong solution architecture, microservices, enterprise integration, software engineering, DevOps, and large-scale application design expertise while working closely with business stakeholders, development teams, IT functions, and external technology partners.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Architecture & System Design

• Design end-to-end technical solutions aligned with business strategy and Line of Business objectives.
• Develop solution architecture blueprints, technical architecture, interface specifications, and high-level design documents.
• Review functional and non-functional requirements to ensure complete and practical solution designs.
• Design systems that are scalable, resilient, maintainable, sustainable, secure, and cost-effective.
• Develop technical roadmaps aligned with business objectives and future technology requirements.

Microservices & Enterprise Integration

• Decompose complex applications using appropriate domain-driven design principles.
• Identify suitable microservices and define APIs across business domains.
• Design enterprise integration patterns and robust interfaces between applications.
• Collaborate with other Solution Architects to standardize technologies, tools, and architectural approaches.

Architecture Governance & Compliance

• Support the development and implementation of architecture governance frameworks and methodologies.
• Ensure projects comply with approved technical standards, policies, and architecture principles.
• Identify technical risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Apply relevant technical practices consistently across projects, programmes, and products.

Delivery & Stakeholder Management

• Provide technical guidance to development and project teams.
• Work closely with internal IT teams, business stakeholders, and third-party suppliers.
• Lead communication initiatives to explain architecture decisions, benefits, and technical requirements.
• Coordinate diverse project stakeholders toward successful solution delivery.

Innovation & Technology Strategy

• Drive innovation by evaluating emerging technologies and their potential business applications.
• Plan and execute Proof of Concepts (PoCs) for complex solutions and new technologies.
• Identify opportunities to improve business value through digital and technology initiatives.
• Support the development of digital strategies aligned with business and IT objectives.

Production Readiness & Technical Support

• Review applications and solutions for production readiness before release.
• Ensure appropriate testing of Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs).
• Lead root cause analysis for critical production incidents.
• Recommend corrective and preventive actions to improve system reliability.
• Support large-scale and business-critical applications throughout their lifecycle.

Minimum Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Computer Applications, Computer Science, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience

• Minimum 10 years of experience in software engineering.
• At least 3 years of proven experience in microservices architecture.
• Strong experience across the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Experience working with Agile methodologies including Scrum, Kanban, Lean, or SAFe.
• Proven experience designing and supporting large-scale and business-critical applications.
