Mechnical Design Engineer - Solidworks

We are seeking a Design Engineer with strong SOLIDWORKS expertise to design and develop elevator components, sheet metal parts, and fabricated assemblies. The role covers 3D modeling, manufacturing drawings, BOM preparation, design revisions, and close coordination with production and installation teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop 3D parts and assemblies in SOLIDWORKS for elevator components and fabricated structures, including frames, brackets, panels, supports, doors, and enclosures.
• Prepare detailed 2D manufacturing and production drawings with dimensions, tolerances, notes, and welding symbols.
• Create and maintain BOMs, cut lists, and material specifications covering steel grades, thicknesses, and finishes.
• Ensure designs are suitable for manufacturing, considering sheet metal bending, hole patterns, fasteners, weld joints, and assembly requirements.
• Coordinate with production teams for laser cutting, bending, welding, and machining requirements.
• Revise drawings based on manufacturing feedback and support installation teams with shop drawings and technical clarifications.
• Maintain proper part numbering, drawing revisions, templates, and document control.
• Track design changes and communicate revisions clearly to relevant stakeholders.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost reduction, material optimization, strength, weight, and assembly efficiency.

Minimum Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Mechatronics, or an equivalent qualification/experience.
• Strong proficiency in SOLIDWORKS – Parts, Assemblies, and Drawings.
• Minimum 1 year of SOLIDWORKS experience.
• Good understanding of manufacturing drawings and technical detailing.
• Practical knowledge of sheet metal design and fabrication.
• Ability to prepare accurate BOMs and work effectively with production teams.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in elevator manufacturing, metal fabrication, steel structures, or industrial equipment.
• Knowledge of GD&T, fit, and clearance practices.
• Familiarity with SolidWorks PDM or similar document management systems.
• Experience designing jigs and fixtures or improving manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD 2D is an advantage.
